Huge congratulations to Level 3 Electrical apprentice, Martyn Masters, who recently won the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Martyn started his electrical career at TECC 9 years ago and worked his way up from PAT tester to Head Technician. Of winning the award, Martyn said, “It’s a wonderful achievement for all the hard work and hours that are put in to be recognised. It’s a really good feeling to be doing something so well and being put forward for the Rising Star award.”

Thinking about taking on an apprentice? 👋

One of the biggest questions employers have is: “How much is it actually going to cost us?”

The good news is that apprenticeship training can be heavily funded by the government, depending on your circumstances.

💷 If you pay the Apprenticeship Levy:
The full cost of the apprenticeship training will usually be covered through your levy account, up to the relevant funding band.

💡 If you don’t pay the Levy:
The government will typically cover 95% of the training costs, meaning your organisation only contributes 5%.

🎓 Taking on an apprentice aged 16–24?
Many non-levy employers may be eligible for 100% government funding for the apprenticeship training and assessment costs (up to the funding band maximum) meaning no employer contribution is required.

So, if you’ve been thinking about bringing an apprentice into your team, don’t let cost put you off before you’ve checked what funding you could be eligible for.
