Whether you’ve been debugging code, building robots, discussing AI, or simply encouraging pupils to think computationally, you’ve made a difference.

We hope you have the opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy a well-deserved break with family and friends.

💬 What’s the best end-of-year computing activity you’ve ever taught?

As the summer term draws to a close, many computing teachers are looking for engaging ways to finish the year—whether that’s celebrating learning, exploring something new, or giving pupils the chance to be creative.

We’re interested to know what works in your classroom.

Community Spotlight: Professor Miles Berry

One of the greatest strengths of the CAS community is the expertise that our members are willing to share.

Recently, Professor Miles Berry brought together a group of computing educators to develop a proposed set of requirements for a future GCSE in Computing. The aim was to offer constructive, evidence-informed advice to those responsible for drafting the new qualification and to ensure that the voices of classroom teachers were represented in the conversation.

This is a fantastic example of what happens when a professional community comes together to shape the future of computing education.

Thank you to Miles, and to everyone who contributed their time, expertise and experience to this important piece of work.

Today is National Thank a Teacher Day 🎉

Across the UK, computing teachers inspire curiosity, build confidence and help young people develop the skills they’ll need for the future. Whether it’s debugging a first program, exploring AI, or encouraging creativity through technology, their impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

Today we’re celebrating all the teachers, technicians, support staff and volunteers who make computing education thrive.

We’re excited to be taking part in AI Awareness Day 2026 and are looking forward to welcoming 200+ primary school classes to our Barefoot AI Explorers Live Lessons this afternoon!

But building AI understanding shouldn’t stop at just one day. Whether you’re new to AI or looking to deepen your knowledge, there’s support out there to help you grow your confidence in using AI in education.

If you’re keen to upskill yourself or your colleagues, take a look at AI Confidence from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in partnership with The Hg Foundation, Microsoft and Cognizant. The feedback so far has been incredibly positive, and it’s a great way to build practical, real-world understanding.
