The scenery can change, but if you don’t change what’s happening inside, nothing really changes.
A few years ago, during COVID and while leading a school, I carried an enormous sense of responsibility. I worried about my staff, my pupils, their families… and somewhere along the way, I stopped looking after myself.
Even after life settled down, I carried that way of living with me.
Always thinking about the next thing.
Always trying to please everyone.
Always putting myself last.
Never really being present.
Looking back, I didn’t realise how much it had become my normal.
Now, when I stand on a beach like this, I don’t just see the view—I feel it.
I’ve learnt that a meaningful life isn’t about visiting more places or achieving more goals. It’s about slowing down enough to appreciate the life that’s already in front of you.
For me, that journey has been about learning to let go, being kinder to myself, and remembering that I don’t have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.
Life isn’t waiting for us somewhere in the future.
It’s happening right now.
