Our last-day-of-term tradition… large-scale painting that inevitably turns into body painting!

The perfect way to finish the term—lots of colour, creativity, sensory exploration and plenty of laughter. The children were free to experiment, get messy and enjoy the process together, creating wonderful memories along the way.

Same tradition, another brilliantly messy ending!

✨ Eclipse ✨

We explored how the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun through stories, play and hands-on activities. The children created their own eclipses, experimented with light and dark play dough, and the older ones shared some brilliant ideas about what was happening in the sky.

A wonderful opportunity to spark curiosity, introduce early scientific thinking for them to go home and experience a rare natural event together as families.

A wonderful morning of stream play with our seven little explorers, aged 2–6!

Armed with fishing nets, buckets, scoops and sieves, the children investigated the water and discovered what they could find. They worked together to build dams, experimented with changing the water’s flow, and enjoyed tipping, pouring, scooping and sieving.

This child-led adventure encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, curiosity and communication, while strengthening coordination and developing an understanding of the natural world. There were wet feet, muddy hands and so much joyful learning! 🌿💧

Before visiting the stream, I went myself to complete a thorough risk assessment, checking the water depth, flow and surrounding area. The children were closely supervised throughout and learned important water-safety rules, including walking carefully, staying within the designated area and listening to adult instructions.

This morning our 2–6-year-olds had so much fun being having a go at tennis. We visited a local tennis centre, where we used their touch tennis courts. We practised balancing and controlling the balls, holding the rackets, aiming, hitting and moving around the court.

There were plenty of missed shots 😅, bouncing balls and lots of laughter—but that’s all part of the learning! Through play, the children developed their coordination, concentration, confidence and turn-taking skills. 🌟

Our little tennis stars certainly served up plenty of fun! 🎾

✨ Wild Cubs is 4 💚✨

Four years ago (last month 😅), Wild Cubs began with a simple dream: to create a place where children could explore, play, get muddy, ask questions, build friendships, and fall in love with the natural world.

Since then we’ve shared countless adventures, celebrated so many milestones, welcomed wonderful families, and watched incredible little learners grow into confident, curious children. Every laugh, muddy puddle, woodland walk, snack, messy play invitation, and magical moment has helped shape the Wild Cubs story.

To every family who has trusted me with your precious little ones—thank you. It is a privilege to be part of your children’s lives, and I never take that trust for granted. ❤️

A huge thank you also goes to my own family and friends. Behind every early start, late night, new idea, woodland adventure and big dream has been your encouragement, practical help and unwavering belief in me. I simply couldn’t have done it without you.

And to my own two incredible children… thank you for sharing your Mummy with so many other little people and welcoming them into your home. Thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders, my little helpers, my adventure buddies and the heart of Wild Cubs. So much of what Wild Cubs is today has been inspired by the two of you, and I hope one day you’ll know just how much you’ve been part of this journey. 💚

As we celebrate our 4th birthday, I’m feeling incredibly grateful and so excited for everything still to come. Here’s to many more years of adventures, learning, laughter and making childhood magical.

✨ Interactive Stories ✨

Today we had the pleasure of joining an interactive storytelling session with a wonderful local children’s author Stuart Lloyd Gould and his book Nuts, and it was full of imagination, laughter and audience participation.

The biggest surprise? My husband and our own children ended up as the main characters in the story! 🤭 Watching them thrown into the adventure had everyone laughing, and it made the experience even more memorable.

A huge thank you for such a magical session that reminded us all just how powerful stories can be in inspiring imagination, confidence and a love of books. ❤️

A wonderful morning spent at Down On The Farm, Wilts 🐄☀️

There was so much to explore, but the giant sandpit was definitely the highlight! 🏖️ From digging and building to filling, pouring and creating, the children were completely immersed in their play.

Sand play offers so many learning opportunities, developing fine motor skills, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork and language—all while having lots of fun! 💛

Outdoor play like this gives children the freedom to follow their own ideas, take appropriate risks, and learn through hands-on experiences. We loved every sandy minute!

✨ Wooden Ball Runs ✨

At Cirencester Park, the wooden ball runs became a place of investigation, with the children predicting what might happen, testing their ideas, celebrating when things worked and adapting when they didn’t. Every roll of the ball was another opportunity to think, problem-solve and persevere.

The fairy door trail brought a different kind of magic. It encouraged the children to slow down, notice the world around them and let their imaginations lead the way. Every tiny door sparked conversations, storytelling, questions and wonder as they imagined who might live inside.

These are the moments I love most. No flashing lights, no batteries—just meaningful play, rich conversations and children leading their own learning. Experiences like these naturally develop communication and language, critical thinking, resilience, creativity and a genuine connection with nature, all without the children even realising they’re learning.
