✨ Flower Painting ✨

Using real flowers as paintbrushes, the children explored painting in a completely different way. They discovered that flowers leave their own unique pattern, texture and mark, encouraging curiosity, creativity and careful observation of the natural world.

There was no right or wrong way to create—just exploration, imagination and the joy of experimenting with nature’s treasures. Activities like this help develop fine motor skills, strengthen hand control, inspire creative thinking and encourage children to look closely at the beauty all around.

✨ Apple Tray Bake ✨

One of our lovely children arrived with a homemade apple crumble they had baked with their nanny, ready to share with all of their friends, along with a whole bag of apples picked from their home garden.

We spent the morning baking together using the homegrown apples. From washing and chopping to mixing and stirring, the children were fully involved in every step of the process. Our slightly older children also took on a wonderful leadership role, supporting our 2 year olds with peeling the apples and showing them how to safely use the peelers with care and confidence, offering gentle guidance and encouragement throughout.

Baking helps children develop fine motor skills, mathematical thinking, communication and language, and confidence, while also helping them understand where food comes from and appreciate seasonal produce.

What a wonderful afternoon spent together! 💚

One of my favourite traditions at Wild Cubs is bringing together not only our current families, but also families who have been part of our journey over the years. Watching friendships continue to grow long after children have moved on is something truly special.

Seeing familiar faces, meeting new siblings, sharing laughter, playing together and simply enjoying time outdoors reminded me just how incredible our Wild Cubs community is. 🌳✨

✨ Sports Day ✨

Wild Cubs took part in their very own mini sports day!

From running races and balancing challenges to throwing, jumping and cheering on their friends, every activity supported so much more than physical development. The children were building confidence, learning to take turns, celebrating each other’s achievements and developing resilience when things felt tricky.

These playful experiences help strengthen gross motor skills, coordination and body awareness while nurturing important life skills such as teamwork, determination and self-belief.

At two years old, every finish line crossed, every smile shared and every “I did it!” moment is something to celebrate. ✨

✨ Clay ✨

Today we introduced clay to our toddlers by offering nothing more than a simple slab of clay.

No instructions. No expectations. Just an open invitation to explore.

With the warm weather, I did add a little water alongside the clay (to stop it drying out), allowing the children to discover how it changed its texture and consistency. They squeezed, poked, pinched, rolled, patted and mixed, fascinated by how the clay became softer and easier to mould as they experimented.

Open-ended experiences like this encourage children to become curious investigators. They develop the strength and coordination in their hands and fingers, support early mark-making and future writing skills, and inspire creativity, problem-solving and scientific thinking as children test their own ideas.

✨ Community Projects ✨

Some of our 2-year-olds had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside local artists No Added Sugar to help create a community mural as part of the Swindon Borough Council and Best Start in Life in Life campaign.

As they explored the different colours of green and flower stems, they weren’t just making art—they were developing fine motor skills, expressing themselves creatively, building confidence and experiencing what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Giving young children opportunities to contribute to their local community helps them develop a sense of belonging from the very beginning. It sends a powerful message that their ideas, creativity and contributions matter.

We feel incredibly proud that our little ones could play a small part in creating something that the whole community can enjoy for years to come. ❤️

✨Angel Ridge Play Park✨

When people think of a play park, they often picture swings, slides and climbing frames… but Angel Ridge offers so much more.

Today, the children spent so much time transporting water, building in the sand and creating their own little worlds alongside climbing and exploring the park equipment.

Watching them completely lose themselves in play was a wonderful reminder that some of the richest learning happens when children have the freedom to follow their own ideas.

Water play encouraged curiosity, early scientific thinking and problem-solving as the children explored how water flowed, filled and emptied containers.

Sand play inspired imagination, creativity and teamwork as they dug, built, scooped and created together.

The climbing equipment helped develop strength, balance, coordination and confidence, while offering just the right amount of challenge for children to assess risks and celebrate their achievements.

Sometimes the best resources aren’t the most expensive—they’re simply sand, water, space and time to play. 🌿

✨ Father’s Day ✨

Now that all the Daddies have had their gifts I can finally share what our little cubs got up too!

We did the same as we did for Mother’s Day so that had matching canvas’. They created little D canvas’s, where I taped an D onto it and they took to the canvas with paint! Once dried they added chalk pens and D stamps and then wrapped them ready!

They also made their own cards with crayons and stickers!

They chose their own bouquets, what wrapping paper and the ribbons used!

And of course we backed them some yummy cakes!

✨ Promotion to Big Sister Party ✨

At Wild Cubs, we know that welcoming a new baby into the family is a big moment — and while so much attention naturally goes to the new arrival, today we made sure to shine a special light on our wonderful children who have just been promoted to big sisters.

Becoming a big sister is something truly special, and we wanted them to know just how important and valued they are. We celebrated their new role with warmth, encouragement, and lots of love, recognising the pride, curiosity, and excitement they bring to this new chapter.

Through gentle play, shared moments, and meaningful conversations, we explored what it means to be a big sister — highlighting their kindness, care, and growing confidence. These moments help them feel seen, secure, and proud of who they are, especially during times of change.
