Yesterday, Year 6 took part in a fantastic hands-on workshop with a local community business, Bare Glazed Studio.

The children created their own Aztec/Mayan-style pots using clay and pottery tools, carefully shaping and decorating them to produce some amazing masterpieces.

A huge thank you to Bare Glazed Studio for such a fun and creative experience!

Last week, our football team was invited to the Fair Play Chairman’s Trophy Award Tournament after earning an impressive 89 out of 90 fair play points in the Central League. We competed against top fair‑play teams from across the Swindon leagues, celebrating the very best of sportsmanship. We’re incredibly proud of our players for consistently showing our CARE values on and off the pitch.
Well done Team!

Year 6 recently visited the Junior Good Citizen Scheme, where they took part in a range of interactive activities focused on staying safe in the community. The children learned about important topics such as stranger danger, the risks of smoking and va**ng, and how to recognise potential dangers around them. It was a valuable and engaging experience, and the children learned a lot while having a great time! 🚦🚒🚸

Last week, Reception embarked on an exciting adventure to launch our new text for the term! The children became explorers for the day, creating their own binoculars before heading out into the garden on an African animal hunt. They carefully searched for different animals and made lists of the different animals they saw.

It was a fantastic day full of curiosity, creativity, and learning – It was ROAR-some!

On Monday evening, a small group of Year 1 and Year 2 children visited the Wyvern Theatre to proudly represent Gorse Hill in the Wyvern Dance Festival. The theme of the event was “Wonderful World”, and the children performed a joyful routine to Walking on Sunshine, bringing smiles to the audience.

We were incredibly proud of the courage they showed performing on such a big stage, as well as how beautifully they demonstrated all of our CARE values. They were truly amazing!

💚 Volunteers’ Week 2026 – Thank You for Inspiring Lives 💚

As Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible impact volunteers have had across The White Horse Federation.

This week gives us the opportunity to recognise those who generously give their time, skills and care to support our schools and communities. Their contributions, big or small add to our commitment to Inspiring Lives every single day.

At gorse Hill, we give a shout out to Mrs Cynthia Dantas, who provides regular support with readers across the school every week. Thank you for your continued dedication.

💚 We are incredibly grateful to all our volunteers across the Trust for their time, energy and enthusiasm 💚
