Before NeuroHIIT tonight, we had a very interesting conversation about mobility aids, getting the right ones for us individually! We could still be chatting about it now, if I didnβt have 2 classes to teach!
But it got me thinking π€ a lot of ambulatory disabled people or those who have become disabled through injury or conditions later on in life, can or do struggle in accepting that our disability or conditions can get worse either with the ageing process or due to the condition being progressive. (Not all conditions are progressive!) Along with the acceptance of using mobility aids.
So letβs think of Mobility aids, they are not a sign of weakness β they are in fact tools of independence, freedom, and empowerment.
Whether it's a wheelchair, walking stick, crutches, rollator, or mobility scooter, using an aid allows those who need them to navigate the world with greater comfort, less pain & fatigue, confidence, and safety. No one should feel embarrassed or judged for choosing what helps them live their life to the fullest.
It's time to challenge outdated assumptions and end the stigma surrounding mobility aids. Disability doesn't have one look, and many people who use mobility aids may have invisible conditions, chronic illnesses, fluctuating disabilities, or age-related challenges.
Normalising mobility aids means creating a more inclusive society where people feel supported, not scrutinised.
I love using my scooter & so do my niece & nephew! They see me using my walking poles or scooter as normal & they know it helps Auntie Sam to do & see more.
Let's celebrate accessibility, independence, and the right for everyone to move through the world in the way that works best for them.

Do you attend one of my classes?
Do you know about fitness events / weekends?
I often talk about them in class especially when I have to take holiday when Iβm away presenting. I always get asked about them. But no one is usually interested in coming with me!
Yesterday was different! 5 of my ladies from Swindon & Pewsey came with me & had the best time!
The one thing they all said was how friendly & inclusive everyone was!
Honestly they are! Everyone talks to everyone, you make new friends & everyone excepts everyone for who they are!
I seen some of my ladies gain so much confidence in attending a fitness weekend & have become more confident in everything they do!
If you need to sit down to take part, that is all ok & youβre not made to feel any different at all!!
My ladies that came yesterday will vouch for that!
Iβm presenting at FitCamps World on the Prom in November up in Lytham St Annes (near Blackpool)
If any of you would like to come up with is, please let me know!
If there is a few of us, we can get a mini bus to take us all up!
Thanks to my crew yesterday for all the support, taking photos & just seeing what happens behind the scenes at an event when their instructor is also a fitness presenter!
Thank you ladies π π
