โWhy do I keep on about relaxing?
Because most of the tension people carry isn't actually in the muscle โ it's in the nervous system.
When we're stressed, sleep-deprived, or just permanently "on," the body stays in a low-grade fight-or-flight state. That shows up as tight shoulders, shallow breathing, a racing mind at bedtime โ even when nothing's "wrong" physically. Digging into the muscle doesn't switch that off. Calming the nervous system does.
That's why the focus is always on rest and stillness rather than pressure or technique. Light touch, slow pacing, a resting/unwinding practice โ all of it sends the body one signal: you're safe, you can stand down now. Once that happens, the physical tension often eases on its own.
So when I talk about rest, stillness, slowing down โ it's not fluff. It's the actual mechanism behind why people feel different afterwards, not just "relaxed for an afternoon."
