Lovely trip on Thursday to Castell Henllys, an iron age village reconstructed where the original village was 2000 years ago.it was very interesting. After a hot drink we walked to the village . Some were transported by car as it was a steep walk.we were given an informative talk about life in the village. We were able to walk into and investigate the various buildings .
We then proceeded to Fishguard where several of us went to see the tapestry which depicts the invasion of Wales by the French. The French thought that the ladies in their Welsh traditional dress were soldiers. One of the ladies was Jemima Nichols . The invasion was stopped in its tracks.
Our day ended with a nice meal at the Bridge Inn where we celebrated Anns birthday.

Holly had a beautiful voice and Johnny Crystal had us all singing along. Each day we visited places of historical interest.
We visited Aberystwyth and had a ride on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil's Bridge. Wednesday we visited Attingham Park. A beautiful Georgian Manor gifted to the National Trust in 1947 by Thomas 8th Lord Berwick. Stables, beautiful grounds and a walled garden.
On Thursday we visited Elan Valley a remarkable Victorian engineering feat.We were lucky to be able to explore the interior of Pen Y Garreg Dam.We also witnessed the damage caused by storm Darra at the beginning of the year. We then returned home via Abergavenny where a few of us found some bargains . Everybody had a lovely time and now glad of a little rest.

Treboeth History Society Sudeley Castle day trip

Photos from Treboeth History Society's post 24/07/2025

Today we visited Sudeley Castle, in Winchcomb Gloucestershire. The home of Katherine Parr the sixth wife of Henry VIII.
A very interesting castle and beautiful gardens. We were lucky with the weather . We had a wonderful lady driver who needed all the patience in the world when we encountered a Caravan in a very narrow lane who could not reverse. She reversed the bus about 200 yards and received applause from us all.
