Adult Learners’ Week | It’s never too late to build new skills and create a new future. 🏗️

This week is a great reminder that learning doesn’t stop when we leave school.

Every day we work with adults who are looking to upskill, gain recognised qualifications, progress within construction or take a completely new direction in their career.

From Construction NVQs Levels 2–7 and workforce development through to our Route to Construction programmes, our focus is on making learning relevant, accessible and connected to real employment opportunities.

For some learners it may be gaining their first recognised qualification. For others it could be progressing into supervision or management. For others, it’s simply having someone show them that another pathway exists.

That’s what lifelong learning should be about — creating opportunity at every stage of life.

Whether you’re an operative looking to gain the right qualification, progressing into supervision or management, or an experienced construction professional looking to achieve a Level 7 Senior Construction Management NVQ, we can support your progression.

Collaboration, not duplication. 🏗️

One message keeps coming through in conversations I’m having with colleges, employers and strategic partners across Wales:

“We need the pipeline.”

There is some fantastic training and apprenticeship provision already available across Wales.

But having provision doesn’t automatically mean that young people and adults know how to get there — or, importantly, what happens afterwards.

That’s where I believe collaboration is key.

Constructa Pathways isn’t being developed to compete with colleges or existing provision. It’s being developed to connect it.

We’re increasingly hearing from colleges that they see Constructa Pathways as the pipeline into their provision.

And that is exactly what we want it to become.

A young person shouldn’t have to understand the construction training system to find a career in construction.

We should build a pathway that makes it clear for them.

There’s a huge opportunity for colleges, employers, housing organisations, local authorities, Careers Wales, DWP, training providers and the wider construction industry to collaborate rather than operate in isolation.

We’re starting to join those pieces together across Wales.
