💡 Employer feedback is helping shape the future workforce of South West Wales.

Through the Swansea Bay City Deal Skills and Talent Programme, the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership (RLSP) has listened to businesses' concerns around skills shortages and recruitment challenges, leading to funding for three further innovative pilot projects focused on AI skills, construction pathways and leadership development.

Together, these projects will help businesses grow, support individuals into employment and build a stronger regional economy.

What about the forgotten cohort?

Many of today’s 21-year-olds were just 15 or 16 when COVID disrupted everything.

Predicted grades.
No normal prom.
Limited work experience.
Less face-to-face careers guidance.
And for many, a very different transition into adulthood.

Some went on to university and are now graduating into a difficult jobs market. Others may still be trying to find the pathway that fits them.

We rightly focus on early NEET prevention from 14–16.

But perhaps we also need to look again at the young adults whose key transition years happened behind closed doors.

It’s never too late to create a pathway.
