Today's YAC focused on Iron Age trade beads, our young archaeologists investigated some local finds using maps for context. This was followed with a discussion on: glass production, bead-making techniques and trade routes that linked to the Mediterranean. We looked at the differences in colours, and cultures before looking closely at local finds and where they came from. We then recreated designs and experimented with techniques using modern materials and ancient techniques, Great fun experimenting!!!!! We applied wave designs used on an Iron Age stone mould from Worms Head, for inspiration-check out Worm’s Head, Gower - History Points https://share.google/0nzXf0Ii8z8EcxmHr

More wanderings on Gower, I can't wait to look more closely at these little finds with my books. The smallest of things can build our understanding and are worth recording! Check out The Portable Antiquities scheme. This piece of flint has beautiful notched edges and a percussion bulb, signs of work. Happy Sunday folks! #
