Congratulations to our second-year BA Illustration student Chloe Duggan, who has achieved major international recognition after winning a coveted Pencil at the prestigious D&AD New Blood Awards. 👏

Chloe’s award-winning response to a live industry brief stood out for its creativity, clarity of concept and strong visual storytelling - earning recognition on an international stage.

A great example of student creativity being supported, developed, and recognised on an international stage.

Every journey back into education looks a little different, that’s what makes it interesting.

Sarah, a Surface Pattern & Textiles student at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD, shares how returning to education after an 18-year break helped her rebuild confidence and rediscover her creative direction.

Through live industry briefs with Laura Ashley and hands-on internship experience, she’s been able to test ideas in real-world settings, develop professional practice, and grow into a designer ready for the industry.

From early uncertainty to winning a major live brief and preparing for her final degree show, Sarah’s journey shows how creativity grows when it meets opportunity.

Huge congratulations to Owen Rees, whose work has been selected for the banner installation on our Dynevor Building 👏

Owen studied Foundation Art & Design and BA Illustration at Swansea College of Art and is now completing his MA Illustration with us.

His selected work, The Moon and Us, explores themes of memory, repetition, material process, and the relationship between people and culture.

Owen describes Swansea College of Art UWTSD as “a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters creativity and growth”. He said: “The diversity of students, the sense of community, and the support from staff helped me quickly find my place. It gave me the confidence to fully engage with my practice and develop my artistic identity.”
