Who needs a Michelin-starred restaurant when we have Welly Wednesday?

Our younger pupils were hard at work in the mud kitchen this week, rustling up some rather questionable-looking – but apparently delicious – dishes!

Mrs Davies certainly seemed to be enjoying every bite, while poor Mr Northcott was still patiently waiting for his order to arrive… We hope the service improved before closing time! 🤣

No Michelin stars just yet, but definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for imagination, creativity and muddy fun!

Macmillan Cake Sale. A huge thank you to all our students who helped make our Macmillan fundraiser such a lovely event. Our Sixth Form pupils kindly brought in the cakes and sold them to pupils during break time and to parents at the Year 12 Welcome Evening.

We’re delighted to share that, together, we raised an amazing £106.85! The money will go towards Macmillan’s work supporting people living with cancer and their loved ones.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, bought a cake or helped out. We’re so grateful for your support.

A huge thank you to our Head Pupil, Zara, for speaking to pupils in today’s assembly about Anaphylaxis Awareness Week.

Pupils learnt why it’s important to be aware of allergies around school, the reactions that can occur and what to do if someone needs help. Some even had the chance to practise using an emergency EpiPen.

It was a really informative assembly, and our pupils learnt a lot. Thank you, Zara.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!

We are incredibly lucky at Ffynone to have such a dedicated team of staff who give 100% to supporting, encouraging and inspiring every pupil, every day.

To mark Teacher Appreciation Day, our Head Pupils, Zara and Riyana, asked pupils across the school to nominate teachers they wanted to thank and, most importantly, to tell us why.

Zara and Riyana then turned their lovely comments into personal messages and hand-delivered them to members of staff across the school. 💛

It was wonderful to hear, in our pupils’ own words, about the difference their teachers make – from helping them through difficult topics and believing in them, to simply making lessons a place they enjoy being.

A little reminder that the things teachers do every day really do matter.

To all of our wonderful Ffynone staff – thank you for everything you do for our pupils. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! 💙💛

At Ffynone, we love a trip to the theatre! Making the most of our city-centre location, we walked to Swansea Grand Theatre for an afternoon matinee of Operation Mincemeat.

The five performers were incredible, moving seamlessly through multiple roles, costume changes and complex choreography. Based on a true story, the show also gave us a fascinating insight into espionage during the Second World War.

It was a treat to experience a West End-quality production right here in Swansea. Our students left inspired!

Our Humanities pupils became history detectives in Green Cwm!
With Mrs Nicholas and Mrs Kidwell, they used the landscape, rocks and archaeological objects to piece together how people have lived on Gower—from early human activity to the farming communities of today. They explored how ice, water and erosion shaped the valley, placed the Iron Age roundhouse within the wider timeline, and considered how historians interpret evidence and protect scheduled monuments.
A brilliant day of fieldwork, bringing chronology, geology and classroom learning together!

Welly Wednesday – the best time of the week! Another brilliant afternoon at the land, exploring the great outdoors and spotting plenty of wildlife – including a toad, a vole, slugs, snails and worms! Our bug houses are certainly proving popular too!

The children also harvested vegetables they planted last term and picked our beautiful sunflowers – a lovely chance to see the results of all their hard work.

Fresh air, muddy hands and lots of happy faces – just how Wednesdays should be!

Today, our wonderful Year 13 pupils delivered their speeches to the whole school as candidates for the role of Ffynone Head Pupil.

All four speeches were polished, professional and truly heartfelt. Choosing between them will certainly not be easy when our pupils and staff cast their votes tomorrow!

Well done, ladies — you did yourselves and Ffynone proud.
