Following the same alteration methods listed in the book, I show you how to alter the sample to fit perfectly.

* Pinch up shoulders
* Take in side seams
* Take fullness out of the centre front
* Lift the waist seam
* Check the shoulder seams alignment
* Take in centre back if needed
* Pin any gape at the armhole
* Check the shape and depth of the armhole

Delyth attended one of the Ash Farm courses where we created a well fitted toile using my book, Dressmaking: The Easy Guide. Then we adapted the block to make her first dress.

Delyth then went home and made a beautiful 'book' dress which she wore to her job in the library. Amazing 🙌 Well done Delyth.

Once you perfect your block, the rest is easy and quick! Draft a few simple sleeves, and then swap them around on different bodices.

The fit is never an issue as you just mix and match your design features.

Here I have chosen my capped sleeve to go with my jersey t-shirt dress. Easy peasy!!

Watch your wardrobe grow but most importantly, the fit is consistent and sewing up is straight forward.

Honest post..I am absolutely knackered!!

Running a business with two young boys is currently feeling a bit impossible. I'm managing to run my courses (which are all sold out again!) but not managing much in between.

Social media is such a mountain to climb these days, and when you stop posting, it all goes very quiet.

For various reasons, I've not had my usual time in the studio. When I do get in there, I have such a little amount of time, so I'm not getting much done. That's ok. I'll get back in there soon.

So, whilst I try to recharge my battery, please know I am here but just a little quiet whilst I focus on being mummy.

My website is always open, the online course has lifetime access and my YouTube channel has some lovely videos.

My fabulous friend Lou made the call and we got dress designing. I had actually gone travelling the World but promised I would make her dress on my return. 🌍

This was one of my first wedding dresses and I adored everything about doing it for Lou. It was a really special time. 💖

The back had a detachable train which became my signature feature over the years.

The wedding was just glorious in the French sunshine ☀️ Very happy memories of the most fun wedding I have ever attended!!
