💥Not all superheroes wear capes… but Mr Goremano and Miss Ayre certainly do! 💥

What a way to start Superhero Immersion Day! Our children and families arrived at the gate this morning to music blasting and these two superheroes ready to save the day! 🎶🦸‍♀️🦸🏾‍♂️

There were plenty of smiles and laughs! We absolutely love seeing our staff going the extra mile to make school exciting and memorable for our children.

🎉Townhill Community Primary celebrates positive Estyn report 👏👏

Townhill Community Primary School is celebrating a highly positive Estyn inspection report which recognises its inclusive culture, strong leadership and commitment to supporting every child to thrive.

Inspectors described the school as "highly inclusive", noting that pupils feel safe, valued and supported. The report also highlights highly effective leadership, strong safeguarding arrangements and the positive relationships that underpin pupils' enjoyment of school, learning and wellbeing.

Headteacher Peter Owen said: "We are incredibly proud of Townhill Community Primary School and of the pupils, staff, families and governors who make our school such a special community.

"The Estyn report recognises many of the things that we value most highly. It describes Townhill as a highly inclusive and nurturing school where pupils feel safe, valued and supported, and highlights the highly effective leadership and positive relationships that underpin pupils' enjoyment, learning and wellbeing."

The inspection identifies family engagement as a particular strength, recognising the strong partnerships established between the school and parents and carers.

Mr Owen added: "We are particularly proud that our work with families is recognised as a significant strength. Initiatives such as Together Tuesdays, Stay and Play and family learning activities have helped us build strong, trusting partnerships with our community. Our provision for pupils with additional learning needs is also highlighted as a notable strength, with pupils benefiting from carefully tailored support and specialist provision.

"The report also recognises the positive impact of our focus on reading, our rich curriculum, outdoor learning and enterprise activities, and the strong progress made by our youngest children.

"There are, rightly, areas where we must continue to improve, particularly attendance, Welsh oracy and the development of independent learning skills. We welcome these priorities and are determined to build on our strengths.

"Above all, we are proud of our children and our whole school community. This report reflects the care, ambition and commitment that are at the heart of Townhill."

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Robert Smith, said: "All at Townhill should be very proud of this report and I'd congratulate them on all their great work."

🧡 BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS, WE HAVE ONE REQUEST…

Please talk to your children about KINDNESS.

Tell them…

👟 It’s okay to wear the same shoes every day.

🎒 A worn school bag carries just as many dreams as a new one.

🧡 Being different is something to respect, not something to judge.

🏠 Remind them that some classmates go home to silence, loneliness or struggles that nobody else can see.

💬 Teach them that a kind word, an invitation to join in, or simply noticing someone can mean more than they realise.

✨ Their kindness might be the brightest part of someone else’s day.

We never truly know what someone else is carrying.

So as our children head back to school, let’s remind them to be kind, include others, look out for each other and never judge a book by its cover.

Because kindness costs nothing -
but it can mean everything to someone who is struggling.

It starts with them.
It starts with us.
It starts at home. 🧡

📢 UNIFORM GRANT / FREE SCHOOL MEALS – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We’ve become aware that some parents are experiencing difficulties when trying to apply for the School Uniform Grant.

Please be aware that, in order to be eligible for the grant, you must have separately applied for means-tested Free School Meals (FSM) and be eligible.

Although all primary-aged children in Wales now receive free school meals in school, this is through the Universal Primary Free School Meals scheme and does NOT mean that your child is automatically registered for means-tested Free School Meals (we know, this is really confusing 🙈🤪)

⚠️ You still need to apply for Free School Meals separately if you believe you are eligible.

Registering for Free School Meals, if eligible, is important as it can also give you access to other financial support throughout your child’s time at primary school, including the School Essentials Grant (uniform grant).
