First aid classes and qualification courses across South Wales including Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taf, The Vale of Glamorgan, Caerphilly & surrounding areas. We are the franchise owners of Mini First Aid Swansea, The Vale & Valleys. We offer a range of first aid classes including a 2 hour baby and child first aid awareness class, children's classes (suitable from age 3 upwards) as well as accredited and certified qualification courses. Our Multi Award winning classes are delivered in a relaxed and comfortable style and give you confidence to know what actions to take if faced with a medical emergency. We are both GPs in the local area as well as parents to a little girl who has recently turned one. As parents we understand some of the worries you might be going through with your own little ones. We both love teaching and would love to be able to share our knowledge and experience with you at our first aid classes. What a busy weekend! 🩷🩹

We’ve had a fantastic weekend delivering our Baby & Child First Aid course at Bryngarw Country Park, helping expectant parents, new parents and grandparents feel more prepared and confident should an emergency happen.

We’ve also been busy running a qualification course for the team at Britannia Day Nursery - well done to everyone who took part! 👏

A huge well done to everyone who attended over the weekend. We hope you’re now feeling more confident and equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond in an emergency when it matters most. Thank you!💚

Some foods need a little extra thought before they're offered to babies and young children.

While many of these foods aren't off limits forever, they can pose a choking risk if they're not prepared appropriately. Others, like honey, should be avoided altogether before your baby's first birthday because of the risk of infant botulism.

Foods to take extra care with include:

• Honey (avoid under 12 months)
• Popcorn
• Whole nuts
• Marshmallows
• Sausages and hot dogs
• Hard boiled sweets
• Grapes
• Whole cherry tomatoes
• Raw hard fruit and vegetables

Simple changes, such as cutting grapes, hot dogs and cherry tomatoes lengthways or into quarters, grating or cooking hard fruit and vegetables, and avoiding foods that are round, hard or potentially sticky (marshmallows), can make mealtimes much safer.

No matter how careful we are, choking can still happen. That's why knowing what to do in an emergency is one of the most important skills any parent, grandparent or carer can learn.

We were delighted to return to Troedyrhiw Primary School today to deliver our Mini First Aid Kids session for Years 3-6!

The children learnt some essential first aid skills, including how to perform CPR, what to do if someone is choking, and how to safely manage burns and bleeding.

A huge well done to all of you for getting involved, listening so brilliantly and learning such important lifesaving skills! 👏⭐

💚 September Baby & Child First Aid Classes 💚

Would you know what to do in an emergency involving a baby or child?

Our relaxed and informal 2-hour Baby & Child First Aid classes are designed to give you the practical skills and confidence to respond in an emergency.

👶 Babies under 1 are very welcome to come along. Feeding and changing are absolutely no problem!

Our classes are healthcare professional led, and during the 2 hours we’ll cover:

• CPR
• Choking
• Burns
• Bleeding
• Allergies & Anaphylaxis
• Febrile seizures
• Meningitis & sepsis awareness
• And more

You’ll have the opportunity to practise your skills on our baby and child manikins, and you’ll take home a Mini First Aid booklet covering all the key points.

£30 per person

We keep our groups small and friendly, so booking is essential as places are limited.

⚠️ Save this post as a reminder that the main sign that your baby or child is choking rather than gagging is SILENCE.

If your child is gagging, you will usually hear them trying to clear their throat or the back of their mouth.

If your child is choking, there is a blockage in their airway, and they cannot make any noise.

We had a lovely Baby & Child First Aid class today at Bryngarw Country Park! 💚

During the session, we covered a range of essential first aid topics, including CPR, choking, burns, and bleeding. We’re also excited to have recently added allergies and anaphylaxis to our course, ensuring parents and carers feel even more confident in dealing with emergencies.

Four years on, we still absolutely love running our small business. Meeting such wonderful families and helping to build their confidence is the best part of what we do. Thank you to everyone who joined us today!
