🏗️ STEM Challenge in Thursday After School Club! 🔬✨

This week in our After School Club, the children took on an exciting STEM challenge – building the tallest tower they could using just spaghetti, sellotape and playdough!

The children had the choice to work individually or as part of a team, encouraging them to share ideas, communicate, problem-solve and think creatively. 🤝💭

There were lots of different designs, plenty of trial and error, and some very impressive towers! The children had to think carefully about balance, stability, structure and how to make their towers stand as tall as possible. 👏

Activities like this are a fantastic way to develop STEM skills while making learning hands-on, fun and engaging. 🌟

Well done everyone for your fantastic teamwork, creativity and perseverance! ❤️

💛 WOW, what a fantastic turnout for our Stay and Play Grandparents Day! 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the afternoon so special. 🥰 We had such a lovely time playing in the water play💦, building 🧱, reading stories 📚 and enjoying some delicious afternoon tea treats! 🧁☕️

The children also had lots of fun colouring in their very own plates to take home. 🎨🍽️

We hope you all had as much fun as we did! 💕

🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of Clybiau Plant Cymru! 🎉

Some of our Child’s Play team had a fantastic time attending the Clybiau Plant Cymru Conference and Awards in Cardiff today.💛

We were incredibly proud to be shortlisted for the Promoting Positive Diversity Champion Award 🌈 Although we didn’t take home the award this time, being recognised for our commitment to diversity, inclusion and ensuring every child feels they belong means so much to us.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and a huge thank you to Clybiau Plant Cymru for a wonderful celebration! 🥳👏

🍕 Little Chefs, Big Smiles! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

This week in our Penclawdd setting, we’ve been getting creative in the kitchen with our Monday Cooking Club, where the children had lots of fun making their very own pizza faces! 🍕🥒🍅🫑

The children had the opportunity to spread their own tomato sauce, add their favourite toppings and use their imagination to create some very funny (and delicious!) pizza faces. 😋

But cooking isn’t just for our older children! ❤️ Our younger children in Playschool also enjoy lots of fun, age-appropriate cooking opportunities throughout the week. From exploring ingredients and practising simple skills to mixing, spreading, decorating and tasting, these experiences provide lots of opportunities to develop independence, confidence, fine motor skills and a love of trying new foods. 🥣👩‍🍳

We love seeing the children’s personalities shine through in their creations — and of course, the best part is getting to enjoy what they’ve made! 🥰🍕✨

🌟 What a great end to the week at St David’s! 🌟

Instead of our planned movie night, the children decided they wanted to make the most of the lovely evening and play outside! 🥰

We had lots of fun with Lego and loom bands, letting the children follow their own interests and enjoy some child-led play. We also opened up our very own Child’s Play Snack Bar!
