So exactly one year since Mr Huw's MMM started and it's still going (tutoring 4 wonderful children online each week)- and covid is still very much with us. I will dive into the 200+ million answers on Diagnostic Questions to find the 5 most common mistakes made by students of each Year. For each mistake I will suggest some free resources and activities that parents can use with their children at home to help them better understand the concept.

The aim is to help parents feel better connected to school mathematics, and reduce the anxiety surrounding supporting their children.

It is paid, I don't know how much it is but there's a 14 day free trial. Mr Craig Barton is a bit of a legend. He's the guy who founded 'Eedi' - I used his diagnostic questions during my lessons and I still use them now, they're excellent.
He's also offering free webinars, the first one of the new year is this evening, I'll do a separate post for them.

Quite an emotional last lesson today! Thanks for all your messages and emails, it's been a blast, it really has. Today, we explored the 'counting on' method as a strategy for mental subtraction. Betsy nailed it! She did these 'sums' straight after the lesson and was desperate for her mum to send them to me. Brilliant, well done, Betsy. It's stuff like this that has made these lessons so worthwhile. 🤩
