Strength isn’t built on sloppy reps.
Every client I work with starts in the exact same place: mastering the movement patterns under the bar. We dial in strict, uncompromising form first. No cutting corners, no skipping steps.
Only when the technique is flawless do we begin adding weight incrementally. It’s a systematic, data-driven approach to lifting, and it is the only way to get lasting results without hitting a wall or getting sidelined.
That strict attention to detail is exactly why my clients are consistently successful. We build the foundation first, then we build the weight.
Standardize the form, then incrementalize the load. That’s how real progress is made.

What causes training related back injuries to occur? Well, most people always want to blame one specific factor, like technique, or your core is too weak, or your pelvis is too anteriorly or posteriorly rotated. In truth it's usually far less dramatic and much more boring than the above.
The most common contributors to training related back injuries are big jumps in load (weight) and volume (reps), or too much fatigue, poor sleep, too much stress, being run down, or even just working too close to the edge too often.
And finally, s**t just happens and you're having an off day. Basically there is no exercise technique that makes you injury proof. And a neutral spine is not a mystical, magical place where injuries never occur, and ugly and imperfect exercise technique isn't guaranteed to injure you. It's usually just flirting with tissue capacity and a load management problem. It's not a moral failing of your spine or poor exercise technique that you can blame for any back injury. It is what it is.

Should people avoid doing deadlifts and Barbell Squats after 50?
A lot of people over 50 have been told they should never deadlift because it's dangerous. It'll hurt your back, it’s an exercise for younger people, and I totally get it. In my experience, anytime someone asked, “what exercises should I avoid after 50?”
The top two answers were almost always Deadlifts and Barbell squats. But what most people don't realise is that Deadlifts and Barbell Squats, when done correctly and for the right reason, can be one of the best exercises for aging, strong.
Hope this helps

Why has weight training been viewed as a young person's game? More and more scientific research has provided strong evidence that anybody who can lift should lift. It slows down, stabilises or even reverses several degenerative conditions of the ageing process such as loss of muscle and strength, brittle bones, weak ligaments, dysfunctional joints and improves balance and mobility. So for those who ask me if Deadlifts, Squats, Overhead Presses are OK for people in their 50s, 60,s 70,s and upwards, my answer is yes, definitely yes!
Keep lifting and stay strong!

The majority of people I see strength training are getting it wrong! I look at so many inefficient and faulty movement patterns which is the worst thing that anyone can do. Yes unfortunately, this describes most trainers. Strength and Power training has both the ability to heal the body or injure it. The difference lies in the form and ex*****on of the movement Pattern. No ego lifting!
