This weekend UWTSD Motorsport travelled to the East Midlands for the Sports 2000 championship awards dinner. This year a few of our students made the effort to attend and joined staff in celebrating with our colleague Andrew Noble, in collecting his 'One to Watch' award! Andrew has contested the championship in his Loaded Gunn, and despite some teething issues is showing skill and promise for this year's season.

Last weekend saw UWTSD Motorsport's rally team travel to Brands Hatch for the Winter Stages. The team are still developing a good all round package, particularly with suspension and handling but finishes with a good result none the less, with 20th overall and 3rd in class. Many thanks to our sponsors Sytner BMW Swansea and new department sponsor RaceShocks UK. Also big thanks to Aaron Chamberlain for the great images!

This evening the UWTSD engineering girls had a social outing, some healthy competion with a few games of bowling were enjoyed by 17 of our students. These socials are aimed at fostering a sense of community between the ladies that make up 14% of our cohort who can some times feel a little isolated being the minority in a classroom. Happily we are getting more women chosing engineering, our Foundation year being 25% girls. We will keep working towards getting this figure to the goal of 50/50 split!

Yesterday one of our students arranged for us to have a tour of a very interesting vessel that has been moored in a dock adjacent to campus. The enthusiastic crew of the Seawell Dive ship gave us a tour, explaining lots of interesting details about the capabilities of the crew and ship whose main job is well maintenance. Very informative!
