🎸💻 Programming with a Twist in Year 10 Computer Science! 💻🎸
Our Year 10 Computer Science pupils have been exploring programming in a fun and interactive way in Mrs Miles’ class, using BBC micro:bits and cardboard guitars to bring their coding skills to life!
By programming their micro:bits, students were able to create working musical instruments, developing their understanding of inputs, outputs, variables, and event-driven programming while unleashing their creativity. The activity provided a hands-on approach to coding, helping pupils see how computer science can be used to solve problems and create innovative projects in the real world.
It was fantastic to see our students collaborating, experimenting, and refining their programs as they transformed simple materials into functioning digital guitars.
Well done to everyone involved for embracing the challenge and demonstrating such enthusiasm for learning! 👏🎶

Today, our Year 9 MAT students took part in an exciting STEM Day led by a guest facilitator from the The Smallpeice Trust. Throughout the day, students explored the engineering design process, working from a real-world brief to design, build, and test their own bridges.
The students were outstanding and represented the school exceptionally well, demonstrating impressive focus, creativity, ingenuity, and teamwork throughout the challenge.
The competition was incredibly close, but Team "Trust in Us" emerged as the winners with their exceptional bridge design and performance. Congratulations to all involved for a fantastic day of learning and innovation!
