Richard Jackson, degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester, A grade in Mathematics A-Level. I am passionate about Maths and want to help students increase their skills and confidence to gain better marks and overall grade. My aim is to enhance students’ understanding of maths and make it a fun and enjoyable experience. I can focus on supplementing school coursework, helping with home

work, addressing areas of struggle, and thorough exam preparation by visiting past exam papers. I have a calm, polite and patient approach to help students get to grips and properly understand the fundamental concepts of Mathematics. I listen and watch the student carefully to see if the penny has dropped for a particular topic, and if not, use a different approach until the topic has properly landed. Breaking mathematical concepts down into every day simple examples that a student can understand is a key element of getting engagement and will lead to a better outcome for the student. My mantra as a tutor is to check that a student understands the topic and can call upon the relevant technique to solve problems. I am based in YO61 and can offer my services either at your home, my home or online, although I believe face to face is a more effective learning approach. I am currently open to taking on new students who are looking for focused and effective maths tutoring.

When finding solutions to algebraic questions, check your answer is correct by substituting back into the equation.

When expanding a single bracket, multiply every term inside the bracket with the term on the outside of the bracket and remember to take account of the sign of each term (positive or negative)
