Year 2 have had a fantastic trip to Creswell Crags today! They have built Stone Age shelters, visited caves, practiced their hunting skills and created Stone Age inspired art! 🎨🪨

Last night, I had the privilege of accompanying Buzz to the BBC Nottingham Make a Difference Awards!

Buzz was one of the final 4 in the ‘animal’ category against some very worthy causes. Although he didn’t win the final award, he certainly won everyone’s hearts and received lots of fuss and praise.

As Buzz’s ‘Mum’ and a proud teacher at St Mary’s, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all the children and staff who nominated Buzz and who have followed Buzz’s journey as our school dog. He joined our school when he was just 2 years old and he was a little nervous (and very scared of the school bell). Through kindness, patience and perseverance, he now benefits our school community through his wagging tail and endless love which he pours out to everyone who he gets to meet. Buzz’s reaction to seeing the children on a school morning, and their reaction to seeing him, is one of the most wonderful things I have ever encountered. As our family dog, he has supported us and loved us through it all, and to see his support and love benefit so many others through our school has truly been the greatest honour for me.

Despite not winning the Make a Difference award, he certainly won at life when he became our very good school dog.

Thank you very much to all involved, and for opening your hearts to Buzz. We look forward to continuing to celebrate Buzz for many years to come at St Mary’s!
