We turned 11 today!

And what a lovely way to celebrate by performing at this year's Takeover event at the Four Seasons in Mansfield.
The young people have co-created a fab piece in just four weeks and we were super proud of how well they did today.

A huge thank you to Ashfield Creates and Captivate for supporting us and allowing us to be a part of this amazing festival.

Huge thanks also to our amazing assisting team Jodie, Rebecca and Mia for all their help.

Thanks also for all who have supported us over 11 wonderful years.

We had a fab final festive session as we combined juniors and seniors for games and fun, ending it all with our own take on the Spider-Man meme.

We are so proud of our Centre Stage Academy Juniors who have done an amazing job the last two nights with their play 'Princesses in the Haunted House' as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations.

The play was first performed in 2017 and co-created by the juniors of the time.

A huge thank you to our little superstars, their adults, our wonderful assistants and all who've made this week possible.

We are super proud of members of Centre Stage Academy who performed their play 'The King and Miller' as part of the Little Festival of Heritage at Mill Waters.

Thanks to funding from Mill Waters' and National Heritage Lottery the group created the play in 3 days during summer.

They absolutely smashed it and braved the weather. Thanks to them for their hard work and their adults for their support, as well as our amazing assistants Hannah and Jodie. Also thank you to the Mill Waters team.

Today we celebrate our 10th anniversary.

It's been amazing to work with so many young people and their adults (many of the young people being adults themselves now!!) It's been a joy to see each individual grow and be a part of the various wonderful co-created plays and pantos that they have absolutely shone in. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us to get this far, especially when we made the transition to an independent company in 2023.

As we continue to work on our plays as part of the celebrations we have a few spaces available in our groups if your young person would like to join this warm, nurturing and fun environment where we encourage people to be themselves and feel the safe space to explore and make mistakes as they learn and know that that's okay.

Our groups meet at Sutton Community Academy at the following times...

Juniors (7yrs-11yrs) Saturday 9am-11am
Seniors (12yrs-16yrs) Saturday 10am-12pm
Advanced (16yrs-21yrs) Monday 6.30pm-8.30pm

Monday 16th was the 8th anniversary of our first Centre Stage play 'Accidental Death of the Big Bad Wolf' reaching the stage. Our seniors are currently rehearsing the play again as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations next year.

Meanwhile, Monday also saw the last Advanced session of the year and so it was Taskmaster time where they had to create the best new handshake, the most dramatic entrance and most surprising news broadcast.

Well done to Sharna for winning (again) and Hannah for coming 2nd.

We're super proud of the Centre Stage Academy team who've been working massively hard.

It was exciting to announce roles for the Junior and Senior teams after their amazing auditions last week. They begin rehearsing their plays as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations very soon.

The Advanced group have also been working hard on co-creating their new play.

Last week all 3 groups of the Centre Stage Academy came together to perform 'War: What is it Good For?" (We know, we know...)

The groups worked individually to co-create three new plays shared together on the theme of the effects of war. The Advanced group performed 'Canaries' inspired on the factory workers of WW1. The Juniors explored evacuees during WW2 in "Run Rabbit" and the Seniors looked at the birth of the teenager in the 50s/60s in their play 'Young People Aren't What They Used to Be."

The team absolutely smashed it and we are so incredibly proud of what they achieved in a very short rehearsal period.

Laughter and tears in our final Advanced session tonight.

Joy came from playing some Taskmaster games in which the team had to compete to be the fastest to put 100 dots on a piece of paper and then turn it into the best picture connecting them. This was followed by trying to find who could throw a teabag into the furthest cup.

Sadness came as we said goodbye to three of our members who leave us to take on a new adventure of University. We wish Hannah (who joined us aged 11), Non (who joined 5 years ago and became our volunteer assistant) and Shannon (joined us to be in her very first plays) the very best and thank them for the great memories.
