I'm looking forward to delivering this online training for Creative Scotland next week. Understanding sensory profiles can make an incredible difference to how a child engages and learns. In this training, I'll be sharing examples of adapting musical activities to support interaction and musical relationships through play.

It was wonderful attending and presenting at the BECERA conference last week. Such a rich environment full of thought provoking research and discussions.

In this guest post, Rachel Pollard shares insights from her research with three children with SEND and reminds us that communication extends far beyond speech.

✨ Thrilled to share that I’ve been invited to present my research at the 2026 BECERA Conference in February! 🎶

My presentation is titled: “Scaffolding Early Communication Through Music and Multisensory Approaches Using Sounds of Intent in the Early Years for Children with SEND.”

I’m excited to connect with fellow educators and researchers, and to contribute to the conversation on supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities through innovative approaches.

Looking forward to an inspiring event!

Join us for the first of a series of online seminars to provide activities and information to SEND families looking to support their young children at home.
If your preschooler likes to line things up, loves to recite phrases from TV or is delayed in speech and language, this could be for you.
Gestalt Language Processors learn language in a different way, and the way we support them requires a different approach. Most autistic children are Gestalt Language Processors.
In this session I'll be explaining more about this, giving helpful activities and ideas for you to support them at home to engage them and support communication skills using musical play.
