📣 11+ Update for 2027 Entry

We wanted to share an update regarding discussions around the 2027 11+ tests.

There are increasing indications that some areas may move their 11+ examinations from September to July, with the aim of reducing the amount of revision children complete over the summer holidays and easing pressure on families.

Whilst nothing has been officially confirmed for all areas, several grammar school locations have already announced earlier testing dates. For example, the Gloucestershire Grammar School Consortium has confirmed a move to summer term testing from 2027 (for September 2028 entry), and Reading School has also moved testing to July.

We can absolutely see the positives of this change. However, we also understand that for many families it may mean less preparation time, particularly for children who benefit from steady, gradual progress.

At our centre, we have always believed in preparing children without unnecessary pressure. We are proud of the range of engaging summer opportunities we provide, helping children build confidence and skills in a balanced way.

With this in mind, we are already planning ahead and adapting our provision just in case testing does move earlier.

✨ What this means for year 4 children:

✔️ Weekly Year 4 summer workshops alongside existing 1:1 lessons
✔️ Additional Maths crash courses, focusing on an area many children find challenging
✔️ Earlier mock tests to build confidence and familiarity
✔️ Increased support during February half term, Easter and May half term

Nothing has been formally announced yet, and based on previous changes (such as the move from CEM to GL-style assessments), official confirmation may not arrive until February/March 2027.

Our priority remains the same: ensuring children are well prepared, confident and supported, whilst still enjoying childhood and avoiding unnecessary pressure.
