π MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY β FRIDAY 9TH OCTOBER π
This Friday, 9th October, we will be recognising Mental Health Awareness Day at nursery.
Mental health is about how we feel, think and cope with everyday life. It is important that we look after our minds just as we look after our bodies β and that we learn from a young age that it is okay to talk about our feelings and ask for help when we need it.
π Why do we wear green?
Green is the colour associated with mental health awareness. It represents hope, strength, support and positivity. Wearing green is a simple way for us to show that mental health matters and that nobody has to face difficult feelings alone.
π Wear Green!
We invite all of our children and staff to wear something green on Friday β this could be a green top, jumper, socks, hair accessory or anything else you have at home!
π± Activities to support healthy mental health
Throughout the day, we will take part in some simple activities to encourage positive mental wellbeing, including:
π Talking about our feelings β using stories, pictures and conversations to help children recognise and express different emotions.
π¨ Creative activities β drawing, painting and making things to encourage self-expression and relaxation.
π§ Mindful moments β practising calm breathing, stretching and taking a quiet moment when we need it.
π³ Time outdoors β enjoying fresh air, movement and exploring nature.
π¬ Kindness activities β thinking about how we can be kind to ourselves and to others.
β€οΈ Sharing what makes us happy β talking about the people, places and activities that help us feel safe, happy and supported.
π«Ά Our feelings are important. There are no βbadβ feelings β all feelings are okay, and talking about them can help us understand and manage them.
Letβs use Mental Health Awareness Day as an opportunity to talk, listen, connect and care for one another.
Remember: Itβs okay not to be okay, and itβs always okay to ask for help. π
