The date commemorates a landmark moment in photographic history — the announcement of the daguerreotype photographic process in 1839, one of the earliest practical forms of photography.
This year, there's a wonderful theme to inspire us:

And home can mean so many different things.
It might be the house where you live, the street where you grew up, a favourite corner of Sutton Coldfield or Lichfield, your family, your garden, a local landmark — or simply somewhere that gives you that unmistakable feeling of belonging.

🎭 BLACKADDER II IS COMING TO SHENSTONE!
From the Top Theatre Company are preparing to bring one of Britain’s best-loved sitcoms to the stage this September with their original adaptation Blackadder II – ‘Off With His Head’.
Following their recent sell-out production of The Producers, the award-winning company turns its attention to the Elizabethan court — where Edmund Blackadder must somehow survive Queenie, Baldrick, Lord Melchett and a collection of bishops, explorers, puritans and assorted lunatics!
Adapted for the stage by cast members Elliot Beech and Dave Crump, the production brings together a selection of classic stories from the second television series. Expect encounters with the terrifying Bishop of Bath and Wells, adventures across the seven seas with Captain Rumbeard, a visit from the decidedly puritanical Lady Whiteadder and, of course, the arrival of Blackadder’s surprisingly vivacious new servant… Bob.
And there's another very good reason to support the production — royalties from the show are going to Comic Relief. ❤️

This production also marks something of a first for From the Top. Although the company has been based in Shenstone for many years, its major productions have normally been staged in Sutton Coldfield or Birmingham. Blackadder II will be its first major production staged at its Shenstone rehearsal home.
And they're certainly not taking the easy option! Everything needed to transform the Village Hall into Blackadder's Elizabethan world — lighting, sound, scenery and much more — has to be brought in and created from scratch.
It promises to be a wonderful team effort and, hopefully, the beginning of even more live theatre in Shenstone.
