Ducklings Nursery

Ducklings Nursery A nurturing environment to learn, create and grow. Ducklings Private Nursery first opened in a classroom Situated at Moor Hall Primary School in 1994.

We are now located in a purpose built modern classroom environment situated in the grounds of the school. Ducklings is privately owned and managed, this allows us to provide well researched, highly structured learning programs and focus on continually improving the quality of the learning experience. We implement advanced learning techniques whilst closely watching and monitoring their impact. Children under 5 years of age thrive best when they spend most of their time with just two or three primary carers. By providing continuity and stability we can equip children with the learning skills that will establish a standard throughout their lives. Our aim is to help develop your child's skills and emotions in a safe, caring environment ensuring a happy transition to primary school. We are registered to take 36 children in each session aged 2 to 5 years and are subject to inspection by Ofsted to ensure we maintain
national standards for nursery education. For further information or to arrange to visit us here at Ducklings, please feel free to contact us via email or telephone.

We had such a great time exploring the Fairy Garden at Moor Hall Hotel the other day. The children were super inquisitive, noticing all the tiny details and moving through the space with such care and curiosity. Their imaginations were buzzing ✨🌿

They’ve absolutely loved the summer trips we’ve been taking — each adventure giving them something new to explore, wonder about and enjoy together. It’s been a beautiful season of learning in the sunshine.

🌟 Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful Ducklings families 🌟

On Friday we held our annual Father’s Day Stay & Play, and what a gorgeous afternoon it was. So many special people in the children’s lives joined us for fun, laughter and plenty of hands‑on activities.

It was truly lovely catching up with parents and seeing families enjoying everything on offer — from the creative bits to the playful challenges and all the little moments in between. These afternoons always remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a warm, supportive community.

Wishing all our amazing dads, grandads, uncles, and special grown‑ups a very happy Father’s Day filled with love and cuddles ❤️

🎒 Supporting Your Child’s School Readiness 🎒

Starting school is a big milestone, and we want to help make that transition as smooth, exciting, and confidence-boosting as possible for your little ones! 🌟
At Ducklings Nursery, we’ve been using the Ready Steady Reception guidance to ensure children build all the key skills they need before starting school. But you can support them at home too! Here are a few simple ways to help your child feel ready and prepared:

✅ Independence: Encourage them to dress themselves, use the toilet independently, and tidy up their things.
📚 Early Literacy: Share stories together, spot letters in everyday life, and chat about what you see around you.
✂️ Fine Motor Skills: Let them practise using scissors, holding pencils, and doing small finger movements (like threading beads).
🗣️ Communication: Ask open-ended questions, let them express their thoughts, and encourage turn-taking in conversations.
🤝 Social Skills: Practice sharing, following instructions, and playing with others to build confidence in group settings.

We want every child to start school feeling happy, secure, and ready to learn! If you’d like more ideas or have any questions about school readiness, please reach out—we’re always here to help. 💛

It’s safe to say football fever has officially arrived at Ducklings. With the World Cup on the horizon and the main football season wrapping up, the children have been completely football mad.

They’ve spent the week chatting about their favourite teams, comparing kits, celebrating goals and practising their dribbling, passing and shooting skills out on the playground. Their excitement even led us to create our own footballs and build a full stadium out of Duplo — complete with stands, a pitch and very enthusiastic spectators.

All of this play is doing far more than building future strikers. Football sparks teamwork, turn‑taking, coordination, confidence, communication and problem‑solving. It gives children the chance to negotiate rules, manage big emotions, and celebrate each other’s successes — all through something they genuinely love.

Here’s to a summer of football, friendship and plenty of little victories on and off the pitch. ⚽✨

We’ve been fully embracing the warmer weather this week with lots of beach‑themed fun at Ducklings. From building sandy “ice creams” to pretending to paddle in the waves, the children have thrown themselves into the sunshine play with so much joy.

We’ve also been talking about sun safety - keeping our hats on, finding shady spots when we need a rest, and remembering that sun cream helps keep our skin safe while we explore.

It’s been a week full of imagination, giggles and those lovely summer‑feeling moments that make early years so special.

We are excited that the fantastic Reception meet‑ups are happening this year at Mini Me Role Play. These sessions are perfect for building relationships, helping children feel confident, and giving parents the chance to meet others who’ll be starting at the same allocated school in September. A great way to begin the next chapter together.

🌟 Look at all our beautiful reviews! 🌟

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the lovely words our families have shared on Google recently. Seeing feedback laid out like this makes us feel so proud of the little community we’ve built together. Every review is a reminder of the care, joy and hard work that goes into each day at Ducklings — and we’re so grateful for every single one. 💛🦆

If you’re looking for a nursery place for September, we do have a limited number of spaces available. These reviews give a real glimpse into what life at Ducklings feels like, and we’d love to welcome new families into our happy little flock.

If you’d like to book a visit or chat about a place for your child, just drop us a message or give us a call. We’re always happy to help.

It’s been a truly Quackers week at Ducklings! 🦆✨

Our duck eggs arrived on Monday, marking the start of one of our favourite annual projects. The children have been completely captivated — watching the eggs wobble, spotting the first tiny pips, and learning all about life cycles through hands‑on exploration.

They’ve thrown themselves into lots of duckling‑themed activities too, from creative play to early science investigations. It’s been wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement grow each day.

So far, we’ve welcomed one fluffy little hatchling, with another egg already halfway there. We’re keeping everything crossed that tomorrow morning brings a few more babies waiting to meet us.

Letting nature take its course and observing new life up close is such a special experience for our children, and we’re so proud to share these moments with them.
