Finally, we got there. What a day! A huge well done to my own incredible students for their hard work, ambition and resilience. They are ready for their next steps!
After such a long wait, the class of 2023 are holding their nerve and waiting for their GCSE results tomorrow. We wish them well.
Here is another gem from one of my Year 11 GCSE maths students in June to any Year 10s.
That's a wrap on GCSEs for this summer. Before they left, I asked my Year 11s what advice they'd give to Year 10s.
It's exam season. Here's my advice to anyone doing maths exams. Try not to let time pressures in an exam situation affect your accuracy. It's often worth slowing down a little bit and double-checking as you go, rather than rushing and making lots of mistakes.
Some interesting quotes from my Year 11 students over the past couple of weeks...
'I love it when the last exam question is on trigonometry!'
'I'm happy when there's a question on cinema prices or discount on theatre tickets - something that interests me.'
Or another favourite...
'Thank goodness I started revising bits and pieces at the very start of Year 11.'
Maths GCSEs are around the corner. Nothing good comes easy, but drive, determination and hard work pay off. Honestly. Make a plan, stick to it and keep going!
Look at this beauty! A highly individualised revision timetable from one of my hard-working students. This is a reminder to all GCSE students - it's time to start planning and it's important to build in extra time to tackle the more challenging topics.
It's never too soon to start revising for that last set of GCSE mocks.
It's been an important time for my 11+ students who have smashed it this week with a great set of exam scores. Huge congratulations and best wishes for the exciting times ahead.
I couldn't let this day pass without congratulating my own amazing students who, despite all of the crazy disruptions, have all done incredibly well. So, so happy for them as they move on to their next steps.
The wait is nearly over. After an intense exam season, the class of 2022 will be collecting their GCSE exam results tomorrow. We wish them all the best!
Calling Y7 - new Y11 parents. Students across the UK are currently enjoying their summer holidays, but if the end of year school based exam results were not quite as good as you'd hoped, some maths tuition may be the answer.
Maths GCSEs are finally underway and I will be saying goodbye to some students in the next couple of weeks, as they'll have finished their exams. If your child would like extra support with any aspect of secondary school maths, please contact me as I will have some availability in three weeks' time. Meanwhile, good luck to everyone taking exams. It's been ages since GCSEs were externally marked, so this year's cohort are pretty special.
There's still time! You're invited!
This is often a time when Y11 students have a bit of a wobble. For anyone who'd like some targeted support with the last leg of GCSE maths revision, I'm here. Mastering a couple of extra topics and increasing confidence can make a real difference. The Easter holiday is a great time to tackle some of those knowledge gaps.
GCSEs are just around the corner. It's time for that final push! I am running GCSE maths mock exam sessions for very small groups. All professionally marked and full feedback will be given. Every mistake now should mean an extra mark next time, as long as you go through worked solutions and understand where you went wrong. And that's exactly what I do with students. This is an opportunity for Y10 students to stay a step ahead too. Contact Sarah McDonald Tutoring or call 07487 351526 to find out more.

Our teachers do an amazing job and we all have a greater appreciation of how tough that is. Not only do they educate our children, they also build their confidence.
2022 is considered to be a transition year in terms of exams. Advance information for summer exams will be given in early February to help students plan their revision. Also grade boundaries will be adjusted to reflect a midway point between 2021 and 2019.

So it's goodbye to Gavin Williamson and hello to Nadhim Zahawi. I just read on Twitter that Larry the No 10 cat turned it down.
