On Sunday, 12th July, 5 staff and 5 Sixth Form students are running the LONDON 10K in support of THE FIRCROFT TRUST. We have been involved with the Fircroft Trust over many years as it seeks to support local people with mental health challenges and those with learning disabilities. Its services include RESIDENTIAL CARE, SUPPORTED HOUSING, A WELLBEING HUB, a charity shop and an extensive bank of committed volunteers. 🌿 Year 8 Travel from the Amazon to the Sahara... in London! 🌍
Our Geography team recently took Year 8 on a brilliant field trip to Kew Gardens to explore the world’s incredible biomes.
The students immersed themselves in the tropical rainforest, climbing the high walkways and experiencing the intense humidity of the Palm House. They discovered "weird and wonderful" plants like rubber trees, bananas, and rare spices, whilst learning just how vital these ecosystems are to our planet. 🍍🧪
To sharpen their fieldwork skills, the boys sketched different cacti to show how plants adapt to arid climates. It was the perfect, hands-on revision ahead of their Exam Week 3 test on biomes this week! 📝🌵
The day also featured a hotly contested photography competition. Entries are rolling in for most beautiful, most unusual, and man-made shots—stay tuned for the winners! 📸🏆

🌟 Well Done, Year 9! 🌟
Yesterday, our Year 9 students truly stepped up for Southborough High School’s ‘Bring Your Son to Work Day’ initiative! 👨‍🔧👩‍💻
They embraced an incredibly diverse mix of placements, gaining hands-on experience in everything from Biomedical Science labs and Digital Transformation to Events Organisation, Painting & Decorating, Graphic Design, Chartered Accountancy, Logistics, and so much more. 🧪🏗️💻
It’s been fantastic to see them throw themselves whole-heartedly into the working world as part of our ongoing career focus. 🌍
A massive thank you to all the parents and carers for your amazing support in making this invaluable work experience day happen! 🙌

🎵 Creativity is hitting all the right notes at Southborough! 🎸
From the iconic Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Bright Sparks event to high-energy djembe drumming at Wellfest, our music department has had an incredible year of live performance and learning.
This term, our Year 7s have been taking centre stage with a brilliant Hamilton musical theatre workshop, singing their hearts out both solo and in groups! 🎤
🌟 Alumni Inspiration: Our Year 10 GCSE students recently headed to The Fox and Hounds in Surbiton to see rock band Mania perform. Huge shoutout to the band's drummer and ex-SHS student, Alex B, for inspiring the next generation as they prepare for their practical exams! 🥁
Our music doors are always open every single lunchtime. Come along, pick up an instrument, and see where the music takes you! 🎶
