Proud, Excited, Emotional, Sad, Lucky
My husband asked me to describe my feelings on results day and these came to mind. π π₯³ π₯° π’π
Proud - ALL my students did themselves proud after a tough and demanding 18 months
Excited - excited to receive the texts with news but also feeling anxious at the same time!
Emotional - the relief felt when a student succeeds is immense. Exam pressure is real and even the strongest students can have off days.
Sad - knowing that all those hours spent in a 1-1 setting are over. I have the privilege of getting to know lots of wonderful young people and when this time comes to an end it can be sad ( for me anyway π)
Lucky - this is the overiding feeling. I started my business by chance many years ago and each year it has grown. I feel so lucky to do something I truly love. I still have that scary feeling at the start of each new academic year that the phone wonβt ring but thankfully it does!
James, Jay, Dani, Amelie, Charlotte, Poppy, Maddie, Julia and Eme you are all fantastic linguists and deserve your results. Stay in touch π
Enjoy the feedback sent to me last week on results day π€©
As another Chatterboxes year comes to an end π I am reflecting back on how amazing all my students have been. What a crazy year particularly for my wonderful year 11s.
You stayed patient, calm and determined and I am so proud to have been there with you offering virtual cups of tea and positive vibes π€£
Jay, Amelie, Dani, Charlotte, Maddie, Poppy, Eme and Julia I wish you so many good wishes for your future and Iβll miss our weekly chats (and lots of language learning too!!) β€οΈ
If you are interested in language tutoring for your child please do get in touch. French and Spanish options available covering all exam boards.
Have a great summer everyone βοΈ
Chatterboxes has gone global π₯³π₯³
First zoom lesson to Singapore this morning πͺπ€
Welcome back everyone! π₯³π₯³. Hope the first week back (for some) has gone smoothly and youβre all getting used to the new normal.
Iβve got a few mid week lesson slots left and a couple over the weekend so get in touch if you need me π
I love my Wednesday mornings! Just had 2 very funny Spanish lessons with 2 sets of brothers π€ͺππ
Games, songs and lots of laughing π₯³
If you would like to join in with our Spanish or French fun please get in touch π

A problem shared is a problem halved. Loving being able to share screens via Zoom. π₯π₯πββοΈ
Another busy week for Chatterboxes π Iβve spent time with lots of Secondary school students helping them get through their mountain of work!
This morning I saw my fantastic KS1 Spanish groups, we all made an arco iris π to put in our windows. I also made an arc en ciel π with my French buddies.
The best thing by far has been being able to share screens using Zoom. Iβve been able to view my students completing their work on their desktop and also shared YouTube language songs with my youngsters.
If you know someone who would like to join in with our fun please get in touch πͺπΈπ«π·
If your KS3 child starts to struggle with the French and Spanish work set by their teachers please get in touch. I can fully explain any new topic/grammar point they have been given
So Iβve been thinking π€........
How are we going to pass all these hours away with our children at home?! Some may find this daunting, others will be relishing the opportunity π
For all my fabulous Spanish and French club linguists our fun doesnβt have to stop completely. I would like to suggest this idea....
We could do our lessons online through either FaceTime or Skype or perhaps Zoom. I would safely drop all the resources and craft bits at your house and then do the lesson at a convenient time π we can still sing, chat and have fun just like before! π¦
This is of course open to any primary age children in our community.
It also doesnβt have to be just languages but Primary maths and English too.
If you would like more information then please get in touch π

Well what can I say? On Tuesday I was working with lots of fantastic young people in preparation for their language GCSEs and now they are all distraught. I really didnβt think this cancellation decision was going to happen. They were so close to the end! They feel cheated and let down and they will miss their chance to shine. You are all fantastic linguists and donβt forget languages are not just for school they are with you forever. You need need to keep them up π
Iβm always here if you need me π
Take care everyone xx
Just received this lovely note from the mum of one of my old year 6 beauties.

Well itβs that good old exam time again π³ π€
This time my wonderful, engaging, committed, talented but very nervous year 11 Spanish and French students are sitting for the first time this new style of exam.
As Iβve said before it is so much harder than the previous specification but they are already better linguists for it.
I will miss you all, spending time working, chatting, laughing and drinking tea with these fantastic young people is such a treat and a privilege for me.
Michal, Alex, Ellie, Jack, Annabelle, Max, Jodie, Edward, Max, Kathryn, Rohan, Connor, Esther and Izzy, you deserve to do well and I canβt wait to hear about all your successes in the future πππ€

Good luck to my wonderful Year 11 French and Spanish students this week. πππ« They have their first mock speaking exam under exam conditions.
As Iβve said before choosing a language GCSE is not an easy option but these students are the guinea pigs for this new style format and itβs tough! The difference between what they are required to do versus last year is immense. No longer do they know the exact questions they will be asked in the speaking and written exam and which they can prepare for in advance.
They have to:
- Orally describe an image using as many tenses, opinions (with justification) comparatives, superlatives, negatives and flashy phrases after a few minutes prep time and no dictionary.
- Take part in an unseen role play
- Take part in a conversation, again fitting in as much of the above criteria as possible. This question could be about any of the modules they have covered over the 2 years.
- Deliver a pre prepared presentation on a chosen theme but then await unknown questions from the examiner.
Marks are awarded for fluency of speech, accuracy and all round confidence. Woe betide any pauses! Plus the whole thing is recorded live.
However, given all the above I really believe the students will come out as better linguists and will be able to communicate naturally and think on their feet. As a tutor itβs much more exciting and you can really help students of all abilities.
Let me know what you think!
π
Bonjour mes amis Iβve got two spaces left in my little fun French group on Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm.

Please let me know how you get on you gorgeous lot π

During the last month I've been working with a number of Year 7 students working towards their end of year language exams.
I am so pleased and proud to hear one of my student's teachers provide feedback like this after their French oral exam " that was excellent, amazing". Well done on gaining 100% from me!
To all of my students well done for all your hard work on the build up to these important challenges. You are all little stars. π FΓ©licitations!

Good luck cards written for my GCSE French and Spanish students βοΈ They've all worked their little "calcetines" and "chausettes"off each week and deserve to do so well ππππππ I'll miss them all π₯ If you are a parent with a child about to go into year 10 or year 11 and you are interested in language tuition please contact me through my page or via email at [email protected]
