University of Sunderland History Society

The final event of the 2015/2016 year was a trip to the beach and a BBQ. It was a great way to end a fantastic year!

A few members went the ball in which we won the award for Committee of the Year and 3 members won Society Colours

We joined the event put on by the Malaysian Society

Our chance after Christmas to see anyone and answer any questions by those who missed us at the Freshers Fayre

We had two lecturers speaking about Christmas - one about Christmas in Cyprus during his favourite period, the other (Kevin) speaking about the history of Santa.

We decided to take a trip to Newcastle and visit as many museums as we could (3 in total) and finished off with a trip to the Christmas fayre in Newcastle City centre.

Members went and joined in a local bonfire night. It was a great night, awesome atmosphere and a good way to join in with the community.

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, today was a great day on the beach that was filled with fun, friends and food! I hope everyone had a great time.

Secondly, this year has been amazing! From sitting in a pub and wanting to make the history lab a more social thing than just meeting once a month to actually making it happens even winning the committee of the year! I have loved being president of the history society this year, it has been a great honour and despite all the tough times in trying to organise events with the help of the rest of the committee I think that we succeeded beyond not only our own expectations but also other people's expectations. I hope that everyone has enjoyed this year and more specifically enjoyed being a part of the history society this year. Thank you all for your support.

Finally, good luck to next year's committee, I think I should maybe apologise first though as we kinda set the bar quite high haha. I hope next year is as good if not better than this year has been.

hey everyone, the weather looks to be good for the day so we're going to head to the beach for half 1 TODAY! we'll be meeting on the bridge at 1.30 and then will head to the beach together! we'll get disposable BBQ's, and food at the morrisons! bring frizbees, footballs, and whatever else!

Cinema time has been decided for 13:45. If you would like to join us please come for 13:35!

FINAL HISTORY SOCIETY EVENTS

Hey everyone,

As the year draws to a close we have two final events taking place.
Saturday 21st May (originally planned as a day at the beach - rescheduled) - the plan for Saturday is to go to the cinema, all are welcome to come. So far the majority appear to be wanting to see Captain America. The best times available are 13:45 and 14:40. Please comment below if you have a preference for time or if you would like to come but would prefer to see a different film. Another post will be made tomorrow morning to confirm everything.

Rescheduled beach day - Monday 23rd May - the plan so far is to meet at the bridge and walk to the beach. Once there we will either go straight to Morrisons to buy food for the BBQ that everyone will have a say in or begin with the games that we have planned. It should be a great day out and everyone is welcome to join. Time will be confirmed in the post tomorrow.

We hope to see everyone at at least one of these last events.
