A huge thank you to the incredible team from Nissan (NMUK) Design Change Control for spending their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) day with us here at Barnes. It means so much to see a major local business giving time back to its community, and today their impact was truly felt.
Martin, Sam, Jade, Kay, Jamie, Neisha and Tom rolled up their sleeves and got straight to work, helping to spruce up the schoolβs exterior by taking on the mammoth task of preparing and repainting the railings around the back of our new dining block. Scraping, sanding, and applying a fresh coat of paint is no small job, but their determination and teamwork have transformed the space.
Their efforts have not only lifted the appearance of our school but also given us a fantastic head start on further renovations and improvements to come.
From everyone at Barnes, thank you so much for your time, energy and generosity.

As another fantastic school year comes to an end, I would like to take a moment to thank every member of our Barnes community for making it such a memorable and successful year.
To our incredible children, thank you. Your enthusiasm, resilience, kindness and determination have been inspirational. You have embraced every opportunity, supported one another, challenged yourselves and continued to show what it truly means to be Proud to Learn and Proud to Achieve. Every single one of you has contributed to making Barnes such a special place to learn.
I would also like to thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment, care and hard work. Their passion, professionalism and relentless determination ensure that our children receive the very best education and experiences each and every day. They continually go above and beyond, and I am incredibly proud to work alongside such a talented and caring team.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our parents and carers. Your continued encouragement, trust and partnership with our school play such an important role in helping our children thrive. We value the strong relationships we have built together and thank you for the support you show our school throughout the year.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to our governing body. Their support, challenge and commitment to ensuring the very best for our children have been invaluable. They work tirelessly behind the scenes, giving their time and expertise to help shape the future of Barnes Junior School, and we are extremely grateful for everything they do.
This year has been one of exciting developments for our school. We took part in our first visit to Rajkot, India. The children represented Barnes and Sunderland impeccably. We have continued to invest in creating the very best environment for our children with the introduction of our new playground equipment, sensory room, Cubbie pod and our Side by Side Regulation Studio. These additions reflect our commitment to ensuring every child feels supported, valued and ready to learn. Seeing our children benefit from these fantastic new facilities has been one of the many highlights of the year.
It is sad to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children. We wish you continued success as you begin the next exciting chapter of your journey. You leave Barnes with so many happy memories, friendships and achievements, and we know you will continue to shine in your new schools. Continue to believe in yourselves, work hard, show kindness to others and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. Remember, you will always be part of the Barnes community.
This year we also say farewell to some fantastic members of our Barnes team.
Mrs Laing leaves Barnes after 13 incredible years of service. She has touched the lives of so many children, families and colleagues. Her kindness, professionalism and commitment to our school community will be greatly missed. We thank her for everything she has given to Barnes and we wish her every happiness and success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her career.
We also say a heartfelt farewell to Wendy, who has supported our school as part of the cleaning team. She is leaving after six years of dedicated service. Behind the scenes, Wendy has worked tirelessly every day to ensure our children arrive at school to a safe, clean and welcoming environment where they can learn and thrive. Her hard work, care and commitment have been greatly appreciated by staff, children and families alike, and she will be sadly missed. We wish her every happiness and success in the future.
Finally we also say goodbye to Mr Frame, who has worked in The Hive this year. Thank you for the care, support and encouragement you have shown to all of our children. We wish you all the very best for the future.
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of such a wonderful school community. Every day I see the kindness, ambition and determination that make Barnes such a special and unique place and I could not be prouder of everything that we have achieved together this year. Whilst we celebrate all that has been accomplished, I am equally excited about what lies ahead. We will continue striving to provide the very best opportunities for every child and ensure that Barnes Junior School remains a school where every child can flourish.
Have a wonderful, safe and well-deserved summer break filled with rest, fun and precious time with family and friends.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday 1st September, ready for another exciting year of learning, growth and success.
Thank you, once again, for being part of the Barnes community!

π Our incredible Year 6 children! π
Today we are delighted to share our provisional Key Stage 2 SATs outcomes, and what a fantastic achievement they represent.
These results reflect the determination, resilience and hard work of our children, who have approached every challenge with enthusiasm and a desire to do their very best.
SATs are only a small part of the journey our wonderful Year 6 children have been on during their time at Barnes Junior School. We are equally proud of the kind, respectful and compassionate young people they have become. Every day they demonstrate our school values of Honesty, Resilience, Empathy and Courage, and those qualities will serve them far beyond any SATS result.
As the saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child." These achievements belong to our whole community. We would like to thank our dedicated staff, supportive governors and wonderful parents and carers for the encouragement, care and commitment they show our children every day. Together, they have helped our children flourish.
Whatever their next adventure holds, we hope that they remember that they will always be part of the Barnes family.
