🎪 Taking Learning to New Heights! 🎪

Our Monkwearmouth Academy pupils have been literally flying high during this week’s Enrichment Days! 🌟

Students swapped the traditional classroom for the circus ring in an incredible Aerial Class Workshop. From mastering the silks to tackling the hoop, they showed amazing courage, strength, and determination while learning brand-new skills in mid-air.

It’s been fantastic seeing everyone step out of their comfort zones, support one another, and build so much confidence. Check out some of the action shots from the session! 📸👇

Yesterday, Year 7 took on a scenic coastal walk from Seaburn to Marsden Rock to study coastal management and erosion first hand. 🌊

Our students showed incredible resilience walking the distance, finishing off with well-deserved ice creams and garden games at Souter Lighthouse! 🍦 Super proud of everyone!

🌊 Year 8 took over the coast today for the ultimate seaside science trip! 🏖️

Highlights from an awesome day out include:

🌿 Identifying local seaweeds
🏰 Building "indestructible" sandcastles
🦀 Exploring hidden rock pools
🐬 Spotting dolphins off the coast!

What a brilliant day of seaside learning!

The Duke of Edinburgh students had a successful night of putting tents up and cooking tea. Groups made breakfast this morning and are having a great day 2.

Our students had an incredible time visiting The Fans Museum, diving deep into football history and getting a hands-on experience like no other! ⚽️✨

Here are just a few highlights from our trip:

👕 A Collector's Dream: We explored some of the collection of over 4,000 match-worn shirts—and even got to try on last season’s shirts worn by stars like Granit Xhaka and Brian Brobbey!

🏆 Pure Silverware Magic: The students got up close with history, holding both the iconic 1973 FA Cup and the Women’s Premier League Trophy.

🎙️ A True Legend: 1973 SAFC Club Captain Bobby Kerr gave his time to meet and chat with our students.

🏟️ Nostalgia & Heritage: We took a trip back in time sitting in the original Roker Park seats and testing out the classic turnstiles!

🚂 Rich History: We learned all about the fascinating history of Sunderland AFC, how the Fans Museum was founded, and the amazing heritage of the building itself as the old railway station.
