Job Title: 1:1 SEND Support Practitioner (Temporary)

Location: Sunshine Nursery

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm (term time only)

Contract: Temporary (with possibility of extension)

Sunshine Nursery is looking for a caring, patient, and experienced practitioner to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

You will work closely with a child on a 1:1 basis, supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing within the nursery setting. You’ll be part of a warm and supportive team, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
Support learning, communication, and social development
Work collaboratively with nursery staff and follow care/support plans
Maintain a safe and positive environment at all times

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEND (essential)
A calm, patient, and compassionate approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Paediatric First Aid (PFA) qualification is desirable

This is a temporary position, however there may be an opportunity for the role to be extended depending on circumstances.

What a lovely winter’s day ❄️
The children enjoyed playing in the snow in the garden and having turns on the sledge. We then extended the learning by bringing snow indoors and adding different colours, encouraging creativity, exploration and sensory play 🎨⛄️

This week a few of our children spotted the Key Community Bus outside and were so curious that we popped in for a little visit! 🚌💛
They absolutely loved exploring the bus, chatting with the team, and even picked out some books to take home. 📚✨

A big thank-you to the Key Community Bus for being such a welcoming space for our young ones!

Our Baby Room little explorers had the sweetest time experiencing the snow today! Bundled up in their cozy winter gear, they enjoyed tiny footprints, soft snowflakes, and lots of giggles.

Outdoor play isn’t just fun — it builds curiosity, confidence, and connection with the world around them. And today, the world looked extra sparkly. ☃️💛

🌺 Remembrance Sunday 🌺
Today, our Sunshine Nursery family proudly joined the community for the Remembrance Sunday parade. Our little ones walked beautifully and laid a wreath to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. ❤️

It was a touching moment of respect and remembrance, showing that even our youngest can take part in keeping their memory alive.

We will remember them. 🌹

Early Talk Boost is a targeted intervention programme designed to help boost the language and communication skills of children who may need a little extra support with talking and understanding. 💬

We’re thrilled to have received our fabulous Early Talk Boost kit and can’t wait to start using it to make a real difference for the children who attend our nursery. The resources, activities, and strategies we’ve gained will help support children’s early communication and confidence every day. 💛
