You do not need 47 plugins to build your first WordPress website 🙄

You need the right plugins for what your website actually does.

In this video, I’m explaining which plugins help with SEO, Analytics, cookie consent and spam, plus which features SiteGround and Divi already provide.

Because installing unnecessary plugins creates more updates, more potential conflicts and more bloody tech overwhelm.

Building a business isn’t about finally reaching the point where you know everything.

I’ve been doing this for 19 years and I still try things that don’t work, change my mind, get things wrong, scrap ideas, start again and occasionally wonder what the hell I’m doing 😂
The difference is, I don’t see that as failure anymore.

That is business.

You learn. You adapt. You get better. You keep going.

And somewhere along the way, you realise you’ve built something that’s yours, through every messy version of it.

And that’s actually pretty bloody amazing. 💗

A customer found a specific product on my website through ChatGPT, clicked directly through to the product page and bought it.

I haven’t actively promoted that website for around a year.

People aren’t only searching on Google anymore. They’re asking AI what to buy, who to work with and where to find it.

But AI can’t recommend your business if it can’t understand your website.

So, is your website ready to be found through AI search? 👀

That time I was in the paper. I was so young 😂

Do you know where your sales are coming from? 👀

I checked an order on one of my websites this morning and spotted something interesting: WooCommerce attributed the sale to chatgpt.com.

I haven’t promoted that site for about a year, so it was a reminder that people can discover your business in places you’re not actively posting.

I can’t see what the customer asked ChatGPT, but I can see where WooCommerce says their visit came from.

That’s why I keep talking about making your website clear for AI search. Say what you sell, describe it properly, answer the questions customers are likely to ask, and make sure your important pages can be found.

You don’t need to write for robots. You need a website that makes sense to people and gives search tools enough information to understand what you offer.

Have you checked where your latest enquiries or sales came from?

Your homepage isn’t there to welcome people and tell them your life story.
It needs to answer three things quickly:
What do you do?
Is it for me?
What should I do next?
If visitors have to hunt for those answers, they’ll sod off to somebody else’s website.

IF YOUR WEBSITE IS “FINE”…

WHY ISN’T ANYONE BUYING?

Your website can look fine and still do absolutely nothing for your business.

If it hasn’t brought you an enquiry, booking or sale in months, it’s time to stop pretending everything is okay and find out where people are dropping off. 👀

Because “it looks nice” is not the same as “it works.”
