Let’s talk de-bulking…

When removing previous builder gel to prep the nail for an infill you MUST remove 80-90% off the previous gel. But WHY?⬇️

1) Leaving too much previous product on the nail plate before then applying more builder gel runs the risk of a bulky application. A bulky application affects the apex, can create heavy sidewalls and also prevents the builder gel from being able to fully cure.

2) If the builder application is too thick the UV rays in a gel lamp are unable to polymerise (turn the product from a liquid to a solid) this runs the risk of uncured gel being left and therefore absorbed through the nail plate which leads to ALLERGIES

3) 80-90% of previous gel must be removed so as a nail tech you’re able to check the health of the natural nail and visibly see any abnormalities on the nail plate.
