We are delighted to announce that our school has recently achieved PSQM (Primary Science Quality Mark) accreditation! π¬β¨
This award recognises the hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment shown by our staff and pupils in developing high-quality science teaching and learning across the school.
Over the past year, we have worked together to create engaging, inclusive, and enquiry-based science opportunities that encourage children to ask questions, investigate, and develop a real love of science.
A huge thank you to our wonderful pupils for their curiosity and enthusiasm, our dedicated staff for their commitment to continually improving science education, and our families for their ongoing support.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our exciting science journey! π

This year, Year 5 have made a real splash during their swimming lessons at Thornhill Academy! Throughout the year, they have grown in confidence, developed a range of swimming skills and learnt how to stay safe in and around the water. It has been fantastic to see their progress as they dived into every lesson with enthusiasm and determination. The children have loved every minute and have truly gone with the flow! Although they'll be waving goodbye to their swimming lessons as they head into Year 6, they're sure to make waves in everything they do next.π

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!π€© Today a bunch of our amazing pupils represented our school fantastically at the North East Learning Trust Athletics Festival. Team Diamond Hall scooped up so many medals, that they topped the primary school leaderboard and came away with the winning trophy!
It was an absolutely fantastic day, where pupils took part in a range of track and field events against other schools in the Trust. Not only did the sun shine, but our pupils certainly did too. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part.ππ

A group of our students recently visited Jarrow Hall Anglo-Saxon Farm and Village to learn more about life in Anglo-Saxon Britain. The trip helped our pupils to understand how people lived, worked and survived during this time period, bringing classroom learning to life!
Pupils walked around reconstructed Anglo-Saxon buildings which helped our children to see how people lived in simple conditions without modern technology. The group also visited the farm, where they saw animals similar to those kept in Anglo-Saxon times, such as sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens. This experience helped the children to understand how important farming was for food, clothing, and survival.
The day was topped off with some interactive activities such as handling replica artefacts, learning how tools were used and trying traditional skills linked to Anglo-Saxon life. What a great day!π€©

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Jeff Rich, former drummer of hugely successful band, Status Quo, into our school for a whole-school drumming workshop.
Pupils took part in the exciting and interactive session, learning about the history of the drum, rhythm and music from a highly experienced professional musician. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were inspired by Jeffβs enthusiasm, talent and stories from his musical career.
It was a fantastic opportunity for all pupils, and we are sure it will be remembered for a long time!πΆ
