Professional Insight Scheme: Independent Route

A new and reimagined mentoring opportunity for all students and recent graduates of the University of Sunderland. 
 
What is The Professional Insight Scheme: Independent Route?

The Independent Route gives you the freedom to find and connect with your own mentor, someone whose experience, career journey or industry knowledge matches your interests and goals.
With your mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to:
• Set your own objectives and decide what you want to get from the experience.
• Gain real-world industry insight and career advice.
• Build your confidence, skills and professional network.
• Reflect regularly on your experience, progress and development.

You’ll be encouraged to meet with your mentor three times over one semester, with each meeting lasting around 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Who is it for?

This pathway is ideal for students and recent graduates who are looking to build their confidence, expand their professional network, and gain valuable career insights. Participants have the flexibility to choose and approach their own mentor within an industry or career area of interest. While some individuals may already have a mentor in mind, this is not a requirement to take part in the scheme.

Benefits of the scheme
This opportunity supports participants by:
• Developing employability and professional skills.
• Increasing career confidence and awareness.
• Providing access to industry knowledge and expertise.
• Expanding professional networks.
• Enhancing prospects.
