Your Story!
Following the success of Willows on the Wear, we’re creating our next community production: Wear in Wonderland- a Sunderland reimagining of Alice in Wonderland and we’d love your stories, memories and ideas to help shape it!
What does Sunderland mean to you?
It could be a childhood memory, a local character, a favourite place, a family story, a Sunderland saying, match-day memories, a lost landmark or simply something that makes this city feel like home.
Your contributions will inspire an original production performed by our Community Company and children from primary schools across Sunderland in summer 2027.
Willows on the Wear brought together 70+ performers aged 6–76, with ideas shared between schools and our adult company. The project also created wonderful connections with the wider Sunderland community, including SAFC commentator Nick Barnes, former FA Cup winner Micky Horswill and the SAFC Heaven Branch.
Now we want to build on that success and create a Wonderland that truly belongs to Sunderland. Big or small, funny or moving, old or new, if it means something to you, we want to hear it.
We may not be able to include every contribution, but your stories will help shape the people, places and moments that make up our Sunderland Wonderland.
So tell us: what does Sunderland mean to you?
❤️🤍Together, we’re going to build our very own Wonderland.
*Please note by submitting your story you are consenting for it to be used within Wear in Wonderland and any relevant publications
