Statement from Principal Mrs J Owens, Castle View Enterprise Academy.

“We are all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Jackson Duke.

“On behalf of everyone at Castle View Enterprise Academy, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Jackson’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“Jackson was a well-respected and popular member of our school community who fully embraced academic life. Polite, friendly and much-liked, he made a positive impression on both staff and fellow students.

“Jackson left Castle View Enterprise Academy in 2025, having achieved a full suite of GCSE qualifications and completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award. He was a keen sportsman and valued member of our football team, contributing enthusiastically to school life beyond the classroom.

“Jackson will be remembered fondly by those who knew him, and his passing will be deeply felt across our Academy community.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Jackson’s family, friends and all those who knew and cared for him.”

Day 2 at Newby Wiske.

We started the morning with raft building – plenty of teamwork, problem-solving and, of course, the big question… would they actually float?!

Next up was archery tag, before taking things to another level on the giant swing! There were definitely a few nervous faces on the way up… followed by some very big screams on the way down!

We finished off with fencing, giving everyone the chance to test their reactions.

What a first day at Newby Wiske!
Our students have certainly thrown themselves into everything today! They’ve scaled the heights on the trapeze! Tested their aim with archery! And finished off the day with a nighttime ambush! t’s been brilliant to see everyone getting involved, trying new things, encouraging each other and having plenty of fun along the way. A fantastic start to the trip – we’re looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings!

Group 2 have had a fun filled afternoon at Newby Whiske with archery and the trapeze! We all had lots of fun!
