Year 1 became smell detectives during our science lesson! We explored our sense of smell by sniffing a variety of different scents and trying to guess what they were. Some smells were easy to identify, while others were much trickier and led to lots of thoughtful discussions and surprising guesses!

The children used their observation skills, made predictions, and shared their ideas with their classmates. We learned that our sense of smell can help us identify familiar things and that everyone can experience smells differently.

Well done, Year 1, for your fantastic investigating and scientific thinking!

Year 4 had a fantastic day at Ushaw College today! The beautiful grounds and rich history were brought to life by our wonderful guide.

The children explored the chapels, searching for specific architectural features and discovering fascinating details along the way. They admired the stunning stained-glass windows and even had the opportunity to design and create their own stained-glass windows in groups.

To bring their designs to life, the children also used bricks to build replica frames for their creations. It was a wonderful day of exploring, learning and getting creative!

πŸš€ Year 5 Science – Gravity! 🌍

This week, Year 5 have been investigating gravity as the next part of our Forces topic. We learnt about Sir Isaac Newton and explored how gravity pulls objects towards the Earth’s centre.

The children used force meters to measure the gravitational pull of different objects. We discovered that force is measured in Newtons πŸ‘Ž and had great fun making predictions, measuring and comparing our results!
