What a fantastic day at the Year 2 Skipping Festival! We are incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm, and determination throughout the event.

They showed amazing teamwork during the group challenges, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way. Their effort and positive attitude truly shone through.

We are also thrilled to celebrate their success in the competitions, bringing home two gold medals 🥇🥇 and one bronze medal 🥉 — an incredible achievement!

Well done to all of our Year 2 children for representing the school so brilliantly. You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Oral language plays a vital role in children’s learning, literacy and social and emotional development.

Our latest guide supports parents and educators with practical, evidence-informed strategies to help children build school-ready language skills.

The guide explores:
• Building oral language through meaningful interaction
• Supporting listening and attention
• Growing children’s vocabulary
• Sharing stories and naming feelings
• Working with settings to spot and support language needs
• Using evidence-based approaches to meet individual needs

With language developing rapidly between the ages of two and six, early support can make a lasting difference to children’s confidence, communication and readiness for school.

Year 1 have been making the most of the beautiful weather by taking their learning outdoors!
The children enjoyed observational drawing, carefully studying the natural world around them. They explored flowers, plants and trees, paying close attention to shapes, textures and details before bringing them to life in their sketches.
Using shading techniques, they worked hard to create depth and tone in their drawings, developing their artistic skills while appreciating the beauty of nature.
A wonderful afternoon of creativity, learning and fresh air! 🎨🌸🌳

Year 4 have been busy developing their woodworking skills as part of our DT project to create slingshot cars! Using saws safely and carefully, we have started constructing the car bodies from materials including lolly sticks, dowels and wheels.
The children have shown fantastic concentration and resilience while measuring, cutting and assembling their designs. We are now beginning to add creative design features and can't wait to see the finished slingshot cars in action! 🚗✨

For the second year running, the team have completed the league and cup double — and finished the entire season unbeaten, without losing a single game! 💪🔥

A huge well done to every player for their hard work, teamwork and determination throughout the season.

🦖🚀 Year 4 Visit to the Life Science Centre 🔬✨

Year 4 had a fantastic day at the Life Science Centre in Newcastle! We explored a range of interactive exhibits, took part in hands-on activities and discovered how science can help us understand the world around us.

We were able to visit to the Planetarium, where we learned about constellations, planets and other suns beyond our solar system, and a fascinating fossils workshop, where we discovered how scientists use evidence to learn about dinosaurs and life millions of years ago.

The children represented our school brilliantly, showing curiosity, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour throughout the day. We returned to school inspired by everything we had learned!

Well done, Year 4!

🦋 Nursery have been fascinated by observing the life cycle of caterpillars over the past few weeks. They watched carefully as the caterpillars grew, formed their cocoons and patiently waited for the exciting moment they emerged as beautiful butterflies.
The children loved learning about this amazing transformation and were delighted to release the butterflies into the wild, watching them flutter away on their new adventure.

Year 3 have had a wonderful day at Beamish. We started with a trip down the drift mine, so the children could see first-hand the conditions the miners worked in. Then, we used our historical skills to investigate the death of James White, finding out what happened and who was to blame by talking to the key people involved; including spending time in the school, the houses and the manager's office in the pit village. Finally, we finished our day with a trip to the 1950s park and the farm. The day really brought our history topic to life and year 3 showed they are historians in the making. Well done everyone!

We were delighted to take a group of children to visit The Grange Care Home as part of our commitment to building strong links within our local community. The children were exceptional ambassadors for our school, demonstrating kindness, confidence and respect throughout the visit. They enjoyed chatting with residents, playing games together and sharing refreshments, creating lots of smiles and meaningful conversations along the way. Experiences like these help to strengthen connections across generations and provide valuable opportunities for our children to develop empathy, communication skills and a sense of community. We are incredibly proud of how they represented our school.
