⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR BABY ROOM FAMILIES – HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH
We currently have several confirmed cases of hand, foot and mouth within our baby rooms. As this infection spreads very easily between young children, we are asking all families to be particularly vigilant over the coming days.
Please check your child carefully before bringing them into nursery.
If you notice any new or unexplained spots or rash, particularly small red/pink spots or blisters on the hands, feet, around the mouth, bottom or groin area, please do not bring your child into nursery until you have sought medical advice.
Other symptoms can include a temperature, sore throat, reduced appetite or mouth ulcers.
Hand, foot and mouth is particularly infectious during the first five days after symptoms begin. Children who are unwell must remain at home and should only return to nursery after the 5 days and when they are feeling well enough to do so.
We appreciate that keeping children at home can be difficult for families, but with several confirmed cases we really do need everyone's cooperation. Please do not bring your child in if you suspect they may be developing hand, foot and mouth and wait to see whether it develops while they are at nursery. This puts other babies, families and staff at unnecessary risk and makes it much harder for us to control the spread.
We are continuing to reinforce our infection-control procedures within the Centre, including careful handwashing and additional cleaning.
