Today we experimented with paint and Pipettes,
we looked at the effects the paint had on the snow and ice.
Pipettes can be very tricky to use, but we made some beautiful patterns,
we also enjoyed mixing the colours.
We read the story Samβs Snowflake this week, then the children made a snowflake of their own.
Later in the week the children thought about the main characters in the story, Mammy bear, Daddy bear and Baby bear.
They discussed the fact that the bears were a family and talked about how their family was similar/different to that of the bears.
The children then created a bear family to represent their own family, they used this as their design for their Christmas cards and wrote their name inside.
This process promoted skills in the following areas of learning; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Listening and Attention, Literacy, Physical Development and Expressive Arts and Design.
We are holding a Christmas fair on Tuesday 20th of December 9.00-11.00.
Everyone is welcome to come along to.
We am looking for some donations for our raffle/tombola,
We would be grateful for any donations π
If you or anyone would like to donate a prize please let me know.
Thank you.
What a magical day at The Polar Express!
The conductors stamped our tickets when we arrived at nursery, we then enjoyed hot chocolate whilst watching The Polar Express movie in our pyjamas.

Do you use a self-feeding pillow? Or perhaps you know someone who does?
Please STOP.
These self-feeding pillows can kill small babies. The baby canβt push the bottle away, so can choke on the milk or suffer aspiration pneumonia.

What a busy week we have had. Wetlands Group have enjoyed making Christmas pictures and writing letters to Santa.
Once our letters were ready, we walked to the Post Office and spotted lots of Christmas lights on our way.
We waited very patiently in the queue for our stamps, then posted our letters in the big red post box outside.
What an exciting adventure!
Shhhh the fairies are hard at work.....remember to wear your pyjamas for polar express day tomorrow!! ππ€Άππ π²π§βππ
What an exciting time we have had this week as the count down to Christmas has begun! We made our Christmas lists for Santa, then took a trip to the post office to buy a stamp so that we could send them him by post. There was a very big queue in the post office but we were super good and waited patiently for the lady to serve us. Once we stamped our envelope we posted our letter in the big red post box outside and we cheered βMerry Christmas!β Back at nursery we made a start on our Christmas decorations in perpetration for fairies night! First on the list of decorations to create was a Christmas bauble for our tree. Later we made some patterned wrapping paper and sang some Christmas songs. Ho ho ho!
This week the Forest Group made their Christmas lists and took a trip out of nursery to the post box to send it off to the North Pole!
We canβt wait to receive our letters back from Santa!
This week we started our Christmas topic by writing our letters to Santa! We used the toy catalogues to choose the toys we wanted, developed our scissor skills by cutting them out and wrote our own names on our lists.
We discussed how we were going to send our letters to Santa, what we needed to do this and where we needed to goβ¦..the post office!
Once we walked to the post office safely, we bought our stamp, wrote Santaβs address on the envelope and posted it in the post box, for the post man to take to Santa!
On our way back to nursery we went on a Christmas window huntβ¦.it got us very excited for Christmas!!
Miss Pollyβs Dolly did not want to wear her nappy anymore so the children in the Woodlands class decided that they would teach her how to use the toilet this week. We read the story, No More Nappies by Amanda Gummer to her and showed her how to take off her nappy and use the toilet. We reminded her to flush the chain and to wash her hands after using the toilet, then demonstrated how to do this. Miss Pollyβs Dolly was very happy with this and now wears nickers to nursery instead of her nappy. Thank you Woodlands class! here is a link to the story we read in nursery if you would like to listen to it at home, https://youtu.be/fs7zDWsSTQw

"Poppies" on CBeebies - Children's Remembrance Day 2 Minutes' Silence Alternative Instead of 2 minutes' silence, CBBC and CBeebies broadcast this 2 minute animation called "Poppies", showing war from the animals' points of view. Beautiful...
What a wonderful time the children have had exploring bonfire night and Diwali, the festival of light. They have built bonfires, have explored fireworks and have learnt about firework safety. They have dressed in Indian clothes, danced to Indian music, explored colour, shape and size in Rangoli patterns and have created their own Mehndi patterns. They have looked at light and dark, have created their own dark spaces to hide in and have made their very own Diva lamps with salt dough and shiny loose parts. Phew, what a busy few weeks! β¨

Exploring Autumn
In nursery we have been exploring autumn and discovering all the season has to offer! This has been an exciting and fascinating time for our children and has been a great way to start the school year.
It has been fantastic to see the children making links between their learning in school and the outside world and we have loved seeing the children bringing in their own autumn items that they have collected on their journey to school.
Why don't you check out some of the autumn themed books we have been reading in school such as 'Wow said the owl' and 'owl babies'.

If you or your child are struggling with mental health difficulties please do not hesitate to speak to our well-being champion Miss Guthrie who may be able to support or sign post you to services available π
