✖️✖️✖️ Times Tables! ✖️✖️✖️

Love them or hate them?

Learning and remembering your times tables is crucial to unlocking mathematical skills.

Did you know, pupils in Year 4 are tested by the Department for Education on their times tables, covering 1 times tables to 12 times tables?

If you didn’t, you do now!

The test is an online test with 25 questions; children must answer each question within a 6 seconds time limit so the whole test will take less than 5 minutes.

If your child struggles with their times tables and needs support, I can help! It’s never too early to start building confidence in a subject!

I offer evening and weekend tutoring, so please get in touch to book a slot for your child!

Let’s talk about ⓟ ⓗ ⓞ ⓝ ⓘ ⓒ ⓢ!

What is it and why is it important?

Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. Through the teaching of phonics children learn to hear, recognise and use different sounds to distinguish one word from another in the English language.

Children start to learn phonics at a very early age. Distinguishing between sounds they hear in every day life is the very first step to developing phonological awareness.

Before your child can learn the rule of sound discrimination and the written letters that match, which normally starts in Reception, they must be confident is these key areas;

✏️ Environmental Sounds
✏️ Instrumental Sounds
✏️ Body Percussion
✏️ Rhythm & Rhyme
✏️ Alliteration
✏️ Voice Sounds
✏️ Oral Blending & Segmenting

If you’d like to give your child a head start and be ‘school ready’ for September, I provide 1:1 and small group tutoring in Phase 1 phonics (and beyond).

Send me a message to book!
