Ormiston Sudbury Academy

The Sports Leaders had a wonderful day on Friday, supporting the Hillside staff with their Sports day. They all ran separate activity stations and worked with the students to complete the tasks. They all completely threw themselves into their roles and were congratulated on their attitude and involvement by lots of individual staff members. Another proud moment! Well done guys!!

What a great evening of Rounders the Year 7s had on Tuesday at the Western Area county tournament. We only had 7 players so were not expecting to do very well. They actually did really well, winning both their first two games against Castle Manor and Newmarket and only losing to Finborough. The girls got better and better, Bella did the work of three deep fielders, constantly running and accurately fielding the ball to the posts. Issy took on the role of bowler and managed a faultless record. All girls got themselves on the scorecard. A special mention goes out to Summer who not only scored lots of rounders but was solid on 2nd base. We came 2nd in our group and were looking forward to our semi-final when the heavens opened; thunder, lightning and hail stones prevented the tournament from progressing. The girls found this as exciting as their games! Unfortunately the decision was made to put the two group winners through to the next round but we were incredibly pleased with our wins. Well done girls. 👊

Lovely to see the Yr10 girls out enjoying rounders at the Western Area rounders tournament last week and they’ve only gone and qualified for the County Final!!! Well done to all that played. A special mention to Julia who scored rounders off every ball in the first two games and Posey with her hands of steel on 2nd base. Brilliant throughout girls! Well done, on to the next round 👊

OSA Wellbeing Ambassadors On Tour!
After meeting with the town council last week, to discuss mental health awareness week, our wellbeing ambassadors have gone on tour! They’ve spent the day in town spreading the message of positive mental health for all. We couldn’t be prouder of them all, and of course the wonderful Mrs Newell! 🙌🥳😀 Thank you to everyone in the community who came down to see them or supported them in anyway.

On Friday, we held a thank you breakfast for the Year 11 prefects for all of their hard work and dedication to helping out throughout their final year, and setting a fantastic example for the rest of the school. Thanks also to Tesco Sudbury for sponsoring this event so we could have a lovely breakfast spread! 🙂
