We couldn't think of a better day to try out cooking on a Solar Oven, than today! As temperatures soared, we harnessed the power of the sun to make our after school club sweet treat.

We had great fun making Football Cookies, with chocolate buttons, melted using a DIY solar oven in the sun! All you need is; rich tea biscuits, white and milk chocolate buttons, a solar oven made from a pizza box and tinfoil.

The perfect way to get in the spirit for tonight's game, as England face Ghana ⚽⚽⚽

We had lots of fun making these rock star Father's Day cards this week at Little Oaks 🎸

SUMMER SOLSTICE WEEK 🌻 🌞

It's the longest day of the year on Sunday, and we've been getting ready to celebrate the summer solstice with lots of sunny activities.

👑 Making flower crowns with fresh flowers and recycled cardboard
🍋 Squeezing our own refreshing fresh lemonade
🍍 Making healthy snack fruit kebabs
🌻 Painting sunflowers with leaves and recycled bubble wrap in art club
💦 Having a fun water fight to cool off!

Next week we're getting in the World Cup spirit with a football themed week ⚽⚽⚽

OCEANS WEEK 🌊🪸 🌍

To celebrate Oceans Day, this week we've had a water-themed week which the children have embraced at Little Oaks.

We've...
🐠 Made our own cardboard aquariums
🧊 Saved the sea creatures from the ice - experimenting with different states and melting using water spray, tools and salt
🌊 Decorated ocean biscuits
🏖️ Painted beach scenes in Art club
🐢 Made bead turtles
🧜🏻‍♀️ Crafted mermaids complete with shells and wool hair

It's been lovely to watch such creativity this week and especially the excitement around the ice experiment in STEM club. We have some truly budding scientists 🧪 🥼

UNDER THE SEA WEEK 🌊🪸🐬🏖️

We've had a wonderful (hot) week at holiday club, enjoying our 'Under the sea' theme.

Over the course of the week the children...

🌊 Made their own oceans in a jar
🐠 Created salt dough sea creatures
🪸 Fashioned coral reefs from pasta and clay
🍦 Served lots of 'ice creams' in the mud kitchen
🌊 Saved the ocean from an 'oil spill'
💦 Cooled off playing with water
🧁 Baked ocean themed cupcakes
🍣 Experimented with making vegetable sushi
🏖️Made 'beach' trifles

We had a fabulous time with you all, and cannot wait for a great time at Little Oaks in the summer holidays!
