Bright Kids Studley St Mary's is a Breakfast & Afterschool Club located at Studley St Marys' C of E Academy.

The provision will be opening in September 2021 and we are encouraging parents to enquire now to save their space.

✨ F E B R U A R Y ✨

Our Investigators have enjoyed playing with our new resources 🧩 the children have enjoyed the new board games and bracelet making 🤩

We did some lovely activities for mental health week and have spent a lot more time out in the fresh air which has made everyone happier 😁 some of our girls played in a netball tournament and won 🏆which they were very excited about and the boys are looking forward to lots of football matches, now the weather is getting better ⚽️ ❤️

Mental Health week at Mary’s 💚

Throughout children’s mental health week, we created our very own monsters 👹 with paint 🎨 🖌️ and words of affirmation with our handprints which made the display board very colourful ✋🏻 the children discussed 🗣️ what made them feel at peace with the drawing ‘cup of peace’ ☕️ and had a good game of football ⚽️ enjoying the fresh air 😌💚

✨ J A N U A R Y ✨

January was a long cold month 🥶 at St Mary’s so we had to find lots of things to do inside, we had Lego 🧱 challenges and the children chose to build houses 🏘️ we made the biggest tower with the kapla and managed to keep it up for 2 days 👏🏼 we played teachers 👩‍🏫 which the children loved as they were the ones in charge. One of the boys completed a life saving competition and did really well, we are now hoping for some better weather so we can start being outside more ☀️

December was so much fun St Mary’s club, we played lots of games, made Christmas crafts, watched Christmas films 🍿 some more than once 🤫 Had hot chocolates to warm us up after playing outside, everyone was so excited 🤩 through the whole of December, we practiced the lines for the Christmas play and did a mini version of the play in club, everyone was ready for the break when we broke up after a very busy December 💚❤️

Being a parent is the toughest job any of us will ever do 🧡 Whether you are co-parenting, single parenting, very young or an older parent, whatever your family looks like the struggles are the same. Here at Studley St Mary’s Bright Kids we acknowledge working, balancing many different pressures and finding time for yourself is a challenge. So today just take a deep breath, put the kettle 🫖 on and find 5 minutes to know.. you are enough, you are doing a good job and we see you 🙏🏻🌸❤️

We’ve had a brilliant start to the new year at St Mary’s, we welcomed our new year 3s and learnt lots about them, they’ve all settled in really well and have been having lots of fun 🤩 A special little kitten 🐱 came for a visit who we all fell in love with ❤️

We had a building tower challenge 🧱 and made one that was taller than me, we had fun making our Autumn 🍂 display board and also learning about our feelings and emotions 🙂🙁 We’ve celebrated a big 1️⃣1️⃣th birthday and also a massive swimming achievement level 10 and now he’s moving onto life saving 👏🏼 We took a vote 🗳️ to see who will be our new mental health ambassador 💚 Now looking forward to the countdown to half term and Halloween 🎃

May has been a busy month at St Mary’s 🤍 The school have had Football tournaments ⚽️ netball matches ⛹️‍♀️and SATS week 📝 The children were amazing through it all. In club we’ve have done a lot of making and building, the younger children made a giant turtle 🐢 for National World Turtle Day, the older children had a Lego competition to make the most unusual building and we also made the highest tower they’ve ever been able to make without knocking it over 🧱 We have also managed to have some fun afternoons on the school field playing football ⚽️ and practicing running 🏃🏻‍♀️ ready for sports day next month 🤎

April has been a very art and craft month 🎨 we’ve been using modelling clay and water beads 💦 and all the children have loved making them to take home 🏡 we’ve been outside more as we are finally getting some sunshine ☀️ one of our year 5s passed her grading exam in kick boxing 🥊 and is now a green belt 💚 and one of our year 4s got to the final stage of swimming 🏊 lessons and is going on to do life saving, looking forward to lots more days outside in the sunshine ☀️ in May 🤞🏻

We’ve had lots of fun in February 🤩

We have celebrated Chinese New Year 🧧 where we made a very long Chinese dragon 🐉 with all our hand prints 🖐🏼 and we learnt which animal represents the year we were born, we also learnt about Chinese writing ✍🏼

We made cakes 🧁 for Valentine’s Day ♥️ and gave them to the people we love 🫶🏼 we’ve played lots of games, giant Pictionary was a favourite ❤️ and we had some very funny drawings, we also had a move around of the room and made some paper poms poms to go with our bunting wall 🥰

During we made a display board of how we all feel sometimes and talked 🗣️ about understanding those feelings. Our mental health champion spoke to the other children about techniques they’ve learnt to help relax 🧘 and to try and make bad feelings go away. We discussed how much exercise 🏃🏼‍♀️ and being outdoors in the fresh air 🪴 can help us all feel happier 😃 and every afternoon we played football ⚽️ and basketball 🏀 outside. To end the week we watched the film Inside Out, which we had used on our display board and some children had never seen it so asked if we could have a film 🎥 and hot chocolate ☕️ afternoon.

Now we are looking forward to March 🌼and the Easter Holidays 🐣🍫
