I am professionally, personally and parentally neurodivergent. This complete immersion in neurodivergence and all that it brings is my daily life in all ways and gives me a deep understanding, compassion and knowledge base that I bring to my work. Much of my work involves ‘bridging the neurotypes’ to enable the necessary ‘paradigm shift’ required to bring mutual understanding. Thereby opening the door for authentic and meaningful communication with powerful and long term benefits for all involved. My role is to enable, inform and empower that process, be it through advocacy, speech, consultancy, art, design, legal action, media, public speaking, media, storytelling or creative and innovative endeavour. I have over 28 years' successful experience working with individuals, families, educational settings, organisations and more to empower, educate, advocate & change make in order to advance the life opportunities and observe the rights of neurodivergent/disabled people individually, collectively and systemically. My Story
I have had an interesting and exciting life moving home often and living around the world both as a child and adult. I grew up as an educationally misunderstood and undiagnosed neurodivergent child with an eclectic and at times traumatic experience of the school system, experiencing long periods out of school and also time in state schools in villages, towns and cities across the UK and then at a private international boarding school. I have felt compelled to work to empower and enable children and families in a range of ways throughout my entire working career since I was 19. In January 2013, in response to my despondency at childcare options available to me at the time following having my own child, I set up and managed a highly successful home-based childcare service which was able to support the needs of a diverse range of children including my own son. I felt honoured that my hard work was recognised with multiple and national awards for my work and was graded 'outstanding in all areas' by Ofsted twice, growing into a full Nursery and Pre School in London Fields, Hackney. I ran these two settings throughout the Covid pandemic and beyond with a firm 'people over profit' approach with enhanced levels of safety & care.
